It won't work with an Irish credit card, a few people have tried and we've all failed.

One option that I haven't tried yet is the PostFX Mastercard from An Post. It's a prepaid card that you can get in Sterling. That *may* work, but no guarantees obviously. (thread about them here)

Thats a pain in the ass!Really dont understand why some companies/sites restrict access to US/Canada or UK only.
Has anyone here successfully subscribed using PostFX card or any other method?

Save yourselves a bunch of frustration and order it somewhere other than littlewoods, if at all possible.

I got one the first time around and then came across it again last week. I had no issues with Littlewoods the first time.... but I was a returning customer, which I think helped?

This one I ordered last Thursday and it was dispatched the next day. I think my first one took about 8 days.

Have you looked at your order status in your account details?

I sent them an email today & in fairness they replied very quickly. Got a confirmation email after as well so hopefully it will come as quickly as yours.

Where's the cheapest place to buy as of now. Did I read further back of sub € 30 delivered? I tried Flubit with Argos link but wasn't a fantastic price

I got it for under €30 from Flubit. Used the link from currys and then delivered through parcel motel. Ordered it Friday and its expected for delivery on Monday.

Can I ask a couple dumb questions? For those that didn't root does the Nook (or any of em) have reference functionality to look up something on wikipedia? Does it have a dictionary/pronunciation facility?

I see there are two models, one with backlight and one without. Anyone get the backlit version? Is it like Amazon's PaperWhite which doesn't project light outward (like a tablet)?

yeah i wonder about the dictionary on the nook too, is there one? I love that feature on the kindle, pick a word and get a definition and so on.

Hold the word on the page you want defined and a dictionary option pops up,its very handy

Press and hold on the word in question. When the options appear at the bottom of the screen, choose 'look up'. As an aside, I have yet to come across a word not in the dictionary...

There is a dictionary and it's pretty good too - I was reading some Joyce and it found a lot of obscure words.

There is no web access whatsoever, so no Wikipedia.

My understanding is that it uses the same E-ink displays as the non-LCD kindles. The Simple Touch "Glowlight" is frontlit, not backlit.

Easons and using Adobe Digitl Editions to get the DRM material to the Nook. With Calibre there are lots of stores linked but not sure if they are DRM or not.

You can also download books for your Nook from the library if you are a member - at least you can in Dublin. Word of warning though as most of the catalogue is tripe but they have the odd good new release - last month I borrowed the new Colum McCann book "Transatlantic" and I'm just starting the new Khalid Hosseini book "And the Mountains Echoed".

Simply online service using Adobe Digital Editions. Hopefully more punters will start using the service and the libraries will get more titles in.

You can download public domain books from Project Gutenberg. Loads of Joyce and Wilde up there if thats your thing.

Why is that but?If we can buy books, why not subscribe to magazines/newspapers?I had a "live chat" with a Nook rep who couldn't answer that question.Got the usual BS that I have to have a UK registered credit card. They're just turning down money from non UK/USA/Canada residents, baffles me.

    Hi All,

I want to tell my experience and warn everyone that is thinking on buying a Nook Simple Touch from littlewoodsireland.ie

I ordered mine on the 17/07/2013
According to the website "Free delivery - Standard takes just 4 days"
According to my order details the "Original Delivery Date: By 26/07/2013" and yesterday the "Latest Delivery Date: By 24/07/2013"
Today I can see that they have changed the "Latest Delivery Date" to ": By 05/08/2013"

Here is the latest tracking information (today 26/07/2013)
19/07/2013 16:40 Order being processed at supplier
    22/07/2013 14:56 Despatched
    22/07/2013 18:30 Sorted at HATFIELD
    22/07/2013 22:35 Sorted at HATFIELD
    23/07/2013 20:45 Sorted at HATFIELD
So they haven't touch my nook since 3 days ago!!!

Since the 24th (Initial Latest Delivery Date) I am sending emails to their customer service and after closing my case several times with no real explanation of what is going on:
-The fist message received from them was asking for information that it was already added to my email.
-The second, that a "team of experts" are looking into this and that they will do their best to speed up the delivery.
-The third, that it depends on the provider and that they can do absolutely nothing so I need to allow until the 5th of august for the nook to arrive.

After this third email (received yesterday 25/07/2013) I replied saying that I wanted to cancel my order and their answer was; if you want to cancel, allow the nook to arrive, then follow the process for returning items and allow 28 days for the money to be refunded.

Who can trust a firm that is so badly treating their customers??? So basically, if everything goes well I will get my money back the 2nd of September!!!! and to be honest I don't think I will ever get my money back (I cannot trust this company anymore)

Please learn from my mistake and save yourself time and troubles; STAY AWAY FROM littlewoodsireland.ie

Word of warning to people don't have the back in direct sunlight for too long mine started to bubble at the edge granted it was about 30 degree . Looks brutal now.

Received this on Friday. Finally got books on it today using calibre. Fantastic so far and althought it's been said, for €30 delivered this is a fantastic piece of machinery.
If anyone, like myself, remains on the fence about buying this then go for it an you won't be disappointed.
