What time are you out in Killarney? I'm down for 9.38. Played there yesterday evening and the place has improved a lot since the changes etc. Played it off the blues too which made it more of a challenge. It's a great test off the back sticks, very enjoyable. I presume it will be off the white stone on Saturday though. Looking forward to it

    Hey lads,

Does anyone know when the Dundalk Senior Scratch Cup is on? It was cancelled in April cause the greens were poor.
I heard it was going to be scheduled for August sometime.

two par 3s to start, or finish, depending on whether they kick off from the 1st or 3rd so... always found that a bit wierd

Yeah started with the 2 par 3's last year

Course was in great condition so hopefully the same Friday

Yeap sums it up nicely. Keep it in play and below the hole. Greens I expect will be lightening quick.

There is very few holes where you need to take driver.

    Dont hit driver on 4, 9, 12, 13, 18

Driver on 18 will put you in the water at the moment.

    Be below the hole on all the greens, but especially 4, 6 (!), 7, 9, 10 , 11, 18.

Enjoy, should be a cracker of a day, course is playing very well at the moment.
I reckon there is a 65 out there today with the run and the quality of the greens, also will be a few 85s though I bet :)
I'm injured so missing out on it :(

Wow was expecting somewhat better scores than that given the conditions. I was playing my typical donkey standard especially around the greens to finish with another poor 82 which included five 3 putts and two balls shanked OB. Cracking day out and despite all the good reviews wasn't blown away by the course, it was in good condition but wouldn't rate it as high or as tight as the Castle.

Similar story here. Started 3, 2 and went downhill after that. Think I had 4 three putts. The greens were in great condition but its not one of my favourite tracks either.

Had a crazy round myself, started 6, 3, 6 , made birdies on 5, 13,17 a bunch or pars but had a few 8's as well :(

What did people think of the condition of the course??

Excellent considering the lack of rain for the past few weeks.

The greens were very receptive and had a good roll. A few of the fairways were a bit burned, but that was to be expected.

One of my favourite parklands. I'll be back again next year.

That 8 will get dropped down to a nett double bogey, what par is the last and what index?
You might end up getting cut ;)

    18th is a par 4 and index 4

    Unfortunately, I don't think so!

According to GolfNet, I had a clause 19 adjustment of -1, so adjusted gross of 86, which gave me a 74. CSS was 74, so ND of 0.

Doubled the last too, after being green-side in 2, so a bit annoyed with that!

I had 85 off 9 so inside the buffer too... Course was good but burnt to bits in places. No stroke saver available which was a disadvantage when I hadn't played there before. But enjoyed it.

What is the format for this? The online booking page is taking bookings in pairs

It's singles strokeplay. When you say booking in pairs do you mean that you can't book just one person? I booked it myself this morning but I entered a line where there were 2 golfers who had already booked. If you're having difficulties I'm sure the pro shop can help you if you call them on 062 32117.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,077 ✭✭✭paulos53

Yes, unable to book a single player through the online system. The 2 columns on the timesheet are "1st Pair" and "2nd Pair"

If I decide to play then I will book through the pro shop to keep things simple

anyone playing woodbrook 36h jsc on 28th?

Not at €50, overpriced for a scratch cup in my book even if it is 36 holes with a light lunch.
Poor value when you compare it to the like of Carlow and Lucan which were both €30 for 36 holes with a lunch included and the lunch in Carlow was very good.

As an alternative to the €50 Woodbrook JSC I see Forrest Little are also holding a 36 hole JSC on Sun 28th Jul for €25 so going to give that a go. Played well in the Intermediate last year so hopefully my fond memories of the course will result in my first cut of the year.

Looking on G.U.I website I see the Intermediate Scratch Cup at Doonbeg is on Thursday 08th August. as I am on holidays next week I am contemplating playing but it is 60 euros entry. Having played the intermediate scratch in Tralee and had a particularly difficult day am I likely to face a similar 'baptism of fire' at Doonbeg? or would it be recommended....I am finding strokeplay particularly problematic at the moment...especially on the more serious courses. Question is, is it worth the money?
