Fatchesse.ie are giving €24 cashback for porting your number over to a new prepaid connection so that would work out at €21!

(Fatchesse cab be very unreliable so you might be waiting a while for your cashback)

I did a review of it here

It's a good phone for the money. There's no other Jellybean handset around at this price point with better spec (yet!). For basic use it's absolutely fine. Wife has been using it since the review she's very happy with it (had a Smart II previously)

Its 59.99 online but when you port over a number it makes it €39.99 delivered.
I ordered a free sim from Meteor online and used that to port it over.

You can get it unlocked here for €5.90
    http://www.spunlock.com/vodafone-unlock/vodafone-smart_mini-unlock-codes.html

So you get a budget android for €45.89

When you get the sim from meteor do you have to register it or make any phone calls or top up??

ordered meteor sim , didn't register anything online with them.
    Got meteor sim.
Ordered with Vodafone, they sent a code to the meteor number I wanted to port, entered the code, order went through
voda sent me the phone - ordered unlock from internet, stuck in my o2 card, entered unlock code and hey presto - sorted

    -Using FatCheese (€24 Cashback) €21
+Free €20 credit which brings the total cost of this phone down to €1 :)

Look at the OP for a link to purchase an unlock, mine went through without any trouble. I use my Smart Mini with a Three SIM.

I don't know about anyone else but I find the loudspeaker volume on mine to be quite low, I find I can miss calls and texts easily.

Just bought this via fatcheese a few hours ago and of course, as per usual, not showing on my fatcheese purchases...

Still a good deal though, will be taking this to Orlando with me next month!

So can I go to my local 3 store tomorrow pick up a sim and not use it. Then go down the street to Vodafone and pick this up for 40 quid?

The local one here no they claim it has to be register/activated depends on how seriously they take their job I suppose, never had a problem using a sim online though.

    I wouldn't buy this though.
The screen is too small, resolution is too small and the viewing angles too small for proper smart phone usage.
If you're not worried about smart phone features and just want a phone the battery life will suck compared to a non smart phone so it doesn't tick that box either.
I'd look for a g300, g330,y300 on adverts or ebay.

Do you really only get 24 hours worth of battery out of these? That would drive me crazy, I think I'll be sticking with my 'dumb' phone for a while longer!

If you turn off 3g, turn down brightness you might get 2-3days.

Anybody figure out how to root this phone yet? Not much info on the interwebs about rooting.

Doesn't seem to go through anymore.
Tried with a Laser and MasterCard via FatCheese and keep getting this error.

Thats pretty much the same for any phone with a big screen tbh. I keep a second basic phone with a week or more battery life.
