I saw this and thought, WAYYYYYYYYY overpriced, but then he's just put the €951 into 1 years tax on her,7 seater, lots of NCT and a new T.Belt, and good tyres - so if got a bit cheaper (a good bit), it'd work out well .....as it looks like a good clean well minded example of these.....also make a cool day/surf wagon/day camper, the back seats turn into a double bed......

Prime example of why the government would want a kick up the hole for the motor tax system we have.
I'd bet good money that after the tax/nct are out on this one, she'll be left to rot.

Yes I actually have first hand experience on all of those cars. I didn't just ''hear'' things like a certain car is ''hard to work on'' and assume it's ''crap'' because of it. If this is the best reply you can come up with by having to sift through my posting history I suggest you give up now.

You must have missed dgts post above, you have serviced them yes? The D4D's and everything?

I suggest to you to read my post properly next time too, if you had you would have seen I said its a crap car for ALL the reasons I gave, no just that they're hard to work on. A good friend of mine who knows a damn sight more about these things than yourself, and believe me he's serviced them, and was where I was led to believe they're crap to work on.

You have owned all the above cars and serviced em all?

Worth noting that the annual tax rate on that car is €95 (taxi) so not that much of a bargain

Taxing a yoke like that properly for a year and then selling it would be bonkers

Someone from midlands claimed it was 951 paid towards tax. Looks like a typo but difference is significant - from bangeromics to *************

Pisses me off when sellers try to put extra value on the cars by taxing them on 95/year when everyone thinks it is worth at least few hundreds.

Too good to be true surely?

    why ???.

Anyway - if one could negotiate the price closer to 2 k and the mileage was genuine - what would be wrong with this http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/vectra-gts-1-8-elegance-low-mileage/4988877 even accepting its a Vectra (seller claims its NCTd - and the mileage is mentioned as 66,000

Not thinking of buying it btw.

Too good to be true surely?

00 regd Accord for 850? Good bargain, priced to sell etc. Calling it to good to be true is a bit off imo.
Surely the description claims good few 100s put into the car recently, but every ad is like this these days.

Now if you show me 05 Focus for 2k - 2,5k that is to good to be true. But for this car it is just good price to sell it quickly.

Too good to be true surely?
Nah, I'd say its a good find.
Its 13 years old and a 2.0, (I doubt a 1.9 as mentioned in the ad).
Mileage is over 100k but belt is done. It is defo worth a visit if you were in the market.
There is no mention of tax or NCT, so I would say its a fair price tbh.

Just got a TPFT quote for €620 for this. 24, 5 years NCB and 5 years full Irish

Insurance companies are starting to be good to me :D

It is 1494 to tax the car so if you get the lad to knock more than six quid of his asking price it will be more to tax the car than its value

I don't plan on going that high engine wise (won't be too far off though). Was just amazed at the cost of insurance. A year or 2 ago I wouldn't have even been able to get an online quote for anything over a 2L

Is this a general rule? I mean about the 25?
I turned 26 last month and the insurance on a Volvo S40 diesel 2001 fully comp with a named driver (wife) who is 28 and we are paying 1,200e. I had lost my NCB as I was abroad so I started again but does this price seem good?
The insurance is up in October so if I dont crash I'll have 1 NCB. Its AXA btw

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 890 ✭✭✭dh0011

full no claims bonus is often about 50% so getting both of you insured for 600 is a rough guide.
I have an 03 avensis 1.6 petrol - am 25 years old have 4 years no claims and have the girlfriend and my mother on the policy and it is only 478 so maybe you could do better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,894 ✭✭✭✭bear1

Full NCB though is the max amount right? So with 1 NCB I'm probably looking at around 10% off in October.
600e would be fantastic with fully comp, breaks my heart when I see 120e taken from my account every month :(
Although now that the whole amount has been paid up and the remaining 3 months are "free" do I need to contact AXA to renew or just wait until October comes?
    Sorry for all the questions
