I was in the local town park today with my oh,
we were sitting down on a bench relaxing as you would on a lovely day like this, until this woman and her partner and child came over to us, the woman said to us that we had to move and let them sit down as they had a child(who looked to be 12 or more and had plenty of energy.)
we said no and could they not sit elsewhere as there was more bench's, she said no as they wanted the sun!!!
In fairness its the only bench where the sun isn't blocked by tree's.
There is more to this story but I don't want this post to be to long.:/

You can't start a thread about a topic such as this and then tease us at the end.

    Spill.

I would have laughed in her face, told her to take a hike and see what she said to that. Just wondering were they elderly? Were any of them handicapped or impaired in any way because that's the only reason i would consider moving. You say theres more to the story please post it as it's hard to see why she was like this otherwise.

The cheeky sod's partner then spoke up and said that we were sitting there for over a half hour which we where, he said that we should give other people a chance to sit in that bench, it has the best views, our local park has a river which swans and ducks habitat, very scenic etc.
He then said he was going to ring the authorities, by that time my oh got annoyed a got up and beckoned me to get up, which I did!
It really annoyed us, couldn't believe how rude the were, and the threat of the authorities, wonder who they thought they were!!!!
It was the rudest thing I ever came across, anyone else have any tales of rude people to share?

They do it because people acquiesce to them. By giving in you're making it worse.

By getting up and giving these people your seat, you give up your right to come to AH and complain about it.

I have a story of some people hogging the best bench in the park. Incredibly rude.

Should have just told them to go fcuk themselves. I'd love to hear that conversation to the authorities too.

    "How can we help you?"
"There's this couple thats been sitting on a bench for over half an hour and wont give anyone else a go at a bit of sunshine !"
"Right.... I'll send the swat team out as soon as they finish up with the guy who didnt have the time!".

I know we should have, would have been funny!!!
We gave in because they were really annoying us, we said no, first come first served, etc, I actually thought it was some sort of radio prank as one of them spin fm cars were around town today.
    Obviously that wasn't the case.

    He was bluffing.
Where would you get authorities on a Sunday for one.
Also you can sit where you like for as long as you like in public parks (until locking up time).

Ah don't sweat it, as i said the child would complicate things. I reckon you made the right choice but as you can clearly see, it comes with a different set of consequences. And if mackeire gets a sammich then i want one too!:)

At the first bolded part I would have laughed in his face, at the second part I would have told him to please do that. I would have sat there for another hour just to piss them off. I can understand that maybe you prefer not to get into confrontation s with idiots like this but as another poster said "why do these people never approach me with that ****"Seriously that would make my day :D'

    What park is this?
