I think it's about time to finally mod my PSP with all the fan translations now being released on it.

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to do it. My firmware is pretty up to date.

Been a long time since I done any PSP modding. Do you even have to mod them now, I thought all homebrew could be signed to run on official firmware?

    perfect :)

very hackable. Im way out of the psp scene, but all phat psps could be put in to a recovery mode using a "pandora battery" and "magic memory stick", im assuming its still the case (as it was a hardware recovery mode).

To be honest there isnt too much point me looking up whats the latest and greatest just to pass that info on as my own, but what I can give you is a loan of the pandora battery if you would like? I have a magic memory stick too, but its probably really old at this stage so you would be better using a newer one.

Have a google for "psp magic memory stick creator" and see if it turns up much

    Here you go Retr0 - http://wololo.net/installing-pro-cfw-on-a-psp-1000-psp-phat/

Edit - I think this only lives in RAM, so it's lost upon a full power off. You can install it permanently, & the tut describes how to do that.

Just looking it up there. Seems the PSP is so hacked now that you can just run custom firmware from the memory card. They have hacked the authentification codes for official software. Going to give it a go, hope I don't end up with a brick!

Yeah that came about after the big PS3 hack, the signing keys for the psp were discovered meaning anything could be digitally signed. It's as simple as installing OFW now, the guide I linked to has the procedure.

Thanks I gave it a try there. Works perfect. It does only live in RAM but it means it's easy to switch between playing copies and my legit games on PSN. I'll only be using it really for fan translations so it's not a big deal switching for them.

So the one game that I wanted to play that got a fan translation is now getting an official English language release :) I hope they hurry up with the Valkyria Chronicles 3 translation!
