The marking scheme accepts both answers as long as you have a valid argument. I'd go with regressive

regressive, doesnt take into account the ability of the tax payer to pay it

What's the substitution and income effect?

Afaik sub effect is basically when the price of one good increases the consumer will buy a different cheaper good.

Income effect is when income increases consumers will buy better quality/more expensive goods

Is the property tax progressive or regressive?

I'm more nervous for this exam than any of the others because I'm expected to get and A but I know I haven't done the work.

    So for micro, what's expected:

    1. Imperfect Competition / Oligopoly
    2. ????
    3. ????
    4. ????

I realise one may not be totally micro, etc.

You mean movement along a demand curve?

It is caused by a change in the price of a good.

I didn't get to revise over half the stuff I had planned to. :o I just hope the paper is similar to the DEB mock paper.

They do this "Gold Medal" thing in my school where the student expected to get the best result in each exam gets a gold medal. Guess who got the Economics gold medal :pac: I think my teacher might be sorely disappointed :P I hate expectations...

I have faith in you, you wouldn't still have trinners first if things were going that bad ;)

I know it's kind-of hit or miss, but does anyone have any idea what short questions are going to come up?

Would bet there would be one on NTMA and NAMA, etc. Maybe regressive/progressive. Etc.

Any ones to look out for?

If a lot of people fall down then it could be marked easier

I got an A1 as well in the mock, no way I got close to that today.

Could be an easier marking scheme ??

Me too. Economics was one of the ones I put the most work into, 94% in the mock, I'd say a B1/A2 today was what I managed.

Is economics an awful lot like business, do they overlap a lot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭sganyfx

The hardest Economics paper I have ever seen, but I don't think I have dropped 40 marks...I hope.

Did Economics last year, one of my favorite subjects. Just wondering what came up out of Monopoly, Imperfect Comp, Elasticity etc? :)

Got an A2 in the mocks but definitely dropped there. I've never heard of some of the things in the short questions
