How does chrome plating affect the voltage so much?

The "Chrome" used on those brass connections is AFAIK nickel plating rather than real chrome - Nickel however is certainly as conductive (if not moreso) than brass unless its a crappy nickel alloy they use :-S
(I sanded the connections on my Drawtube, that much extra was delivered, both on fully charged batteries measured off the charger)

My theory is that when you sand the connections you simply get more surface area actually hitting the battery and post correctly hence the increased hit in voltage.

I have my doubts weather its the metal itself actually causing the voltage drops.

Jeez, I dunno, I got the natural from 3.54v to 3.8v under a 1.8ohm(i think) load, by sanding down all the contacts.
I dont think I increased suface area, I decreased it if anything because I slighty rounded off some of the contacts.
I could be wrong but I reckon the plating is just some p*ss poor Chinese mystery metal.

Some Copper/Nickel alloys only have 4% the conductivity of pure copper ...

Anyhow you should know all about chroming surely ;)

Its a bit daft that they give you a dual coil set up, and only 1 hole.

and they've engraved a logo on the opposite side. hopefully when i attack it with a chainsaw drill slowly and carefully with the correctly sized bit, i can get it under the logo but over the level of the base. the o-rings are nice, zero chance of the top cap coming off without considerable force.

    Items Ordered:
    2 of : Boge 510 Cartomizers - Low Resistance - Black
    1 of : Kanger T3s Clearomizer
    1 of : Kanger T3s Replacement Head - 1.7-1.9ohms
    1 of : Orange Ice Cream - 10ml - 20mg

I never post here, but for some reason I feel the need to justify what I've bought today.

    1. My mate wants to try Vaping, but can't stand clearomizers, even a slight pull from one and the throathit makes her gag uncontrollably. My soloution is to try her on carts, where the throathit should be lighter?

2.My beloved and much touted T2's have let me down. In the last three weeks, three have died for no apparent reason, and they have caused me to throw out good heads thinking they had gone faulty. One of them was only purchased about three weeks ago. The last one I have, just spat a load of juice in my mouth. So, lack of warmth or not, it's time to try something new. The Evod is too small and the pro-tank is too big. The only two bad reviews I can find of the T3s are from 'Anyone' on this forum and and ESI, which means (I hope) he was just unlucky. Being able to rebuild the heads is a big plus too.

    3. I got off the fags with orange ice cream, vaped it solidly for months until I couldn't taste it anymore, hoping that maybe I can give it another go now.

TL;DR : Jamie needs reassurance he's making sense.

Only been vaping a few weeks now and started on the t2, but have tried to experiment a bit cos there's so many different reviews of the different clearos out there. This week I've had a go on the the evod (it's working well) and very easy to use, nice flavour and TH. The t3S is a brilliant vape on the el toro Virginia prime, but maybe that's the juice too.

Have also tried the t5 and its good but found it a bit hard to fill and it doesn't take much juice.

Have the protank too which I'm gonna try tomorrow.

It's a few quid trying them all out but in the long run it will be so much cheaper than the smokes!!

It's a bit of craic as well when you have plenty of gear, but when everything breaks and you're low on funds, vaping can be irratating. Let us know how you get on with the pro-tank and maybe a comparison of all three with virgina prime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 826 ✭✭✭DublinCJM

Yeah sure. Going to try something else in the protank first cos the Virginia prime is working well in the T3S. Will update when I do!

    Sigelei 19
    Agr tank
    5 boge LR cartos
    5 boge SR cartos

Having a bad time with cartos at the moment, they keep flooding. Going to give them one more chance :)

If they keep flooding then maybe you're punching too deep with your carto punch?

This is what I do anyway, look where the black wire is and punch the hole on the other side. When I hear the crack like I've gone through the side I give it a quarter twist more then untwist. Sometimes it looks like the hole didn't punch and it's just the dent, but there is a hole it's just pretty small. I find that works best for me and I vape 50/50 pg vg mix. The times I've gone mad and made a big hole or when I was playing around with two holes either side it was flooding but not really since then.

I think it may be my punch, I twist until I hear the click and stop. The punch I bought may just suck ! It's a generic / no brand name one from bargainvapour.com

Dunno one I've got is a 5 euro job. How often do they flood. What pg vg juice do you vape? What battery, what tank?

When you say flooding what do you mean, gurgling?

High PG content so they are quite thin juices, I use either my evic with a telescopic kir fanis body, my vamo or my sigelei, with an AGR tank and carto.
First couple of vapes is usually fine but if I leave it down for a few minutes the carto gurgles and sometimes hot liquid comes out through the drop tip
Using my AGA at the moment

If you want send me 3ml of your juice, I'll punch a new carto and try it. If it vapes ok I'll send you the carto and juice back to try.

Maybe try cutting a little slot with a junior hacksaw, thats how I did it after my punch went blunt after punching a few cartos.
I had to stop using my agr v2 because it kept flooding. I had the v1 before that and it still works perfect today. The vendor reckoned some v2s had an issue with air pressure or something. The top caps weren't properly sealed and allowing air in, but he wasnt sure himself.
Or it could be your juice,...or your cartos, I dunno :-)

+1 for the looks Ionised, it is really freaking awesome

Probably has more to do with the AGR than the boge.I would have thought the only way you can flood a boge is too add too much liquid or fill the tank incorrectly.I use those €5 jobbies and find them ok.How are you filling the AGR?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭Rattleshakes

    1x Kanger cartomizer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

The Kangers are pretty good but tend to be hotter if I remember right. Last time I tried them I put them into a tank and the draw was brutal stiff but the previous times I hadn't used a tank and the draw was fine. Might have screwed them up punching them somehow.

What about the innokin cartos? Anyone ever try them? Innokin seem to be a good brand.

Each time you punch a carto, pay attention to the number of turns you made from the time the carto punch connects with the carto. If it floods make fewer turns next time till you have a hole size that works

I was having all sorts of problems getting holes without squashing cartos (using one of the basic carto punches from one of the usual vendors).

In the end I got this http://www.ebay.ie/itm/221008167221 on a reccomendation at it has transformed my carto experience. It has such a sharp punch and an autostop so you can't just dig into the carto. It also does not squash cartos at all.

Looks interesting. The generic punchers become blunt far too quickly, still usable, but squash the balls out of the carto.Think I'll give this one a try.

I'm sure they can be gotten locally somewhere. Apparently used in air conditioning system repair.

Still awaiting the Vamo V3 I ordered from "Fasttech" 11 days ago. Not so fast then, eh?

I'm betting customs have it and are scratching their holes, wondering what to do as it's only €24 worth. They're entitled to about €4.50 in charges. No doubt they will add on an extra re-postal charge too. &*^%$
