Exploded?? Were you injured? How did it happen, did it happen while you were using it or during charging? What brand was it? Just checked their site, cant find much there.
Hand is a little burned, but nothing serious (thank god!) Said vendor warned about the battery about a month after i bought it, ignored it, and less that 3 months old, it just powed in my hand. Happened right after i charged, twisted my kanger onto it, silver part broke away from the black part, fizzed then just dropped it because it was too hot :/ Other battery from vendor is doing fine, just a bit more cautious. Was looking to upgrade anyway so i suppose that's good? :pac:

Provari mini 2.5 arrived today, it's so small. Tiny even and so well made its hard to describe the feeling of quality. Now I get the term buttery smooth threads and the hit from it.
Why did I dick around with lesser mods! Its hard to get used to the side button after so long with mech mods and pinky buttons and there's no air flow on my diy monster oid but I'll figure that out.

If you get the 18650 extender you have an all day vape, but that defeats probably your point of getting the mini, I got the mini and straight away regretted it due to the short life of the 18350 battery and wished I had gone for the normal sized version.

the twins telescopic extension is the one to get,can use all 3 battery sizes with a provari mini then

vaporium have them, whenever they have them in stock

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 913 ✭✭✭heliguyheliguy

Yeah the twins was on my shopping list. I don't like the look of the provape extension but there seems to a supply issue for the twins, is there another option?

Edit: nevermind Found one at http://www.atmistique.gr/en/craven-series?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=388&category_id=75&keyword=provari

Is the French Vanilla needed to get to that liquid?

    My VC tastes too buttery.

It definitely improves it. I was thinking of adding a little more to my next batch.

OK so I ordered a load of stuff, mainly clearos etc and this arrived in with it. I'm sure it came by mistake, but don't know what it is? Can someone please tell me? Thanks!

just ordered a mixing kit to try and make some smoking goodness

Ummm a gold plated RCA audio Jack ... Why you ask ? .....

My Pinkie will be happy with this feather light switch upgrade made from the cable stress reliever - simply THE lightest action switch I've ever tried ;)

The old one - even with the shortened spring is not a patch on it.

(the RCA still works fine, no RCA jacks were permanently damaged in the making of this modification).

Oh man your photos are always so shiny :D
Will the coil protector be as safe and more importantly as electrically conductive as the spring? Isn't the spring a kind of fuse in mech mods?

Hot Springs only work if its the spring itself that secures the battery in place, the white plastic riser is what secures the battery in this mod though (and my last telescope as well).

IMR's anyhow are "safe chemistry" batteries, hot springs become less relevant with mech mods IMHO than in a VV mod that comes with crappy no-name lifepo batteries and internal cables that can short easily (this happened my rev-3 after a fall and I almost burned the hand off myself)

Conductivity wise - the old spring was just crappy steel, where the new one is gold plated so should be much better primarily due to the lack of tarnishing I reckon rather than the material used.

On checking the resistance to the coil from the body's base and for any voltage drops there are no noticeable conductivity problems whatsoever.

So far so good, and my fingers really like it too - certainly don't feel like I'll be getting RSI anytime soon.

Not sure, but I dont think the spring that was in the mod was a hot spring.

That's a really good point - mods should really have copper contacts with a couple of layers of gold plating.

Has a mod come out yet that's got fully gold contacts? Not just plated.
I'd imagine Imeo could sell a thousand of them, the self-aggrandising bastard.

Always thought gold was the best conductor.

Someones probably going to correct me on this, but the reason for gold plating is that it is the least corrosive metal. Copper is the best conductor, but corrodes easily, so you'd end up with bad connections after the connector had been in use for a while.

Gold plated connector on copper cable is the best solution.

Funny that we all like SS and brass

What I think is funny is that people throw a few copper/silver/gold contacts into a stainless steel or brass tube and believe that they increase the power somehow, when the real issue is the Stainless tube itself acts as the negative terminal in most cases and SS is certainly not the best conductor so any loss of power is going to be where the stainless screws onto itself other metal, however being stainless it does not tarnish like brass/aluminium/copper/silver .
However for the purposes of Vaping there seems to be ZERO impact IMHO on the quality of the vape if its stainless/chrome/brass/copper/gold/silver as the contact material - Run a MultiMeter from the negative body to the positive tip .. is there a drop in voltage ? Is there a measurable increase in resistance ?

Nope - why ? .. because the body of any mod is so thick there isn't enough resistance of the (small) current to make an Iota of difference, you could probably use cast iron (exaggerating) with the same results.
That's a really good point - mods should really have copper contacts with a couple of layers of gold plating.

If you really want the best mod (conductivity-wise) a Gold plated silver Body with old plated Silver Contact/Switch would probably gain the most "power upgrade" ... I just don't see it being all that worthwhile - as you'll see in the video a its just a 3/100 of a volt difference between stainless #13 conductor and #4 Aluminium.

They sell a variety of connectors as upgrade kits over here in Copper, Brass, Gold Plated, silver plated and pure silver.

Brass is a weird one anyhow as its dependent on the copper content.

Silver though is a better conductor, has less resistance than even copper and gold and is more durable.

Here's some bits and bobs for the technically inclined :p

All things being equal your coils have probably MUCH more variance than the voltage difference between metals.

So basically the brass plated platinum upgrade button and 9 carat gold and diamond encrusted spring with silver sprinklings was a waste of bloody money?!?

It might make you more attractive to members of the opposite sex ?

You don't drive around in a 1983 Black GMC Van with a Red Speed Stripe by any chance ?

How does chrome plating affect the voltage so much? It sounds little to people on VV mods, but when you're vaping it at a set decreasing voltage... that extra 0.18v makes a world of difference (I sanded the connections on my Drawtube, that much extra was delivered, both on fully charged batteries measured off the charger). The idea that these factories (generally in China) decide to ruin a brass/copper connection by chroming it for the sake of shininess and losing 0.2-0.3v sometimes on both ends is bananas to me.

I've always liked the idea of aluminum anyway because I don't get the fascination with heavier = quality (iHybrid Pure, I have my eye one you, you sexy bastard.)
