Just reading examiners reports to see where students fall down and why there is such a high failure rate and was surprised at the level of mistakes that were being made!!

Yeah that's what time pressure and stress can do believe me.

You think after the exam, 'why the hell did I write that down'. It can happen to anyone.

has anyone worked through the section b case studies on the CA website(the short form questions in relation to the IAS), some of the solutions to the questions seem to be missing or in the wrong order at the back, eg solution 20 is blank and solution 19 seems to be for q20 etc, are these solutions posted anywere else?

The Financial Reporting, did them last week and ended up leaving out the ones with no solutions! I reckoned there was enough in it to cover the rest of them.

Who the xxxx is posting these solutions up I would love to know!!!! Bleedin Joke

I don't know if anyone else feels the same but I'm just so sick of studying....I'm only doing like 3 hours a day now! Just fed up and bored and want the exams to get them over and done with :-(

I read some of the examines reports too and was shocked at some of the silly mistakes he pointed out students are making....but I totally agree when you're under pressure and stress you make the silliest mistakes and miss the obvious! So my attitude will be to think positive, read everything careful and stay calm no matter what!

The exact same- would happily sit these tomorrow just to get them out of the way!!

That said I do not want to go back to work but not sure how much more I can take!

Ya would happily sit them tomorrow even though I doubt I'll pass, just don't care anymore! Looking forward to a few weeks off work at the end of September for the repeats :-)

Ya don't know is this worse or going back to work....

Haha doubt i'd pass as well but once they're out of the way I wouldn't feel so guilty about spending the weekend watching tv rather than trying to memorise conditions for taxation relief (which outside of the exam I could just look up in the book!!).

Yep, at this point I just want them over with too. If I could pull 2 passes out of the 4 exams, I would be delighted.

Don't know if this has been asked already but does anyone know why there is no updated solution for tax autumn 2011?

    Thanks

Hey all you guys who have been sharing your questions and answers here, I just wanted to thank you all, and share my thoughts.

Each morning I have been catching up on the posts on here. Although I'm following my own random study plan (haven't even got to FR yet so I'm not really following the issues) it's been *really* motivating to know that y'all are punching your way through the past papers and gearing up for the exams in a professional way. AND helping out - not just each other, but also a whole lot like me who mainly just read what's going on here. It's the encouragement I've needed to really apply myself to the study when I want, need, and deserve a holiday instead!

You should all take a bow for being great inspiration for the rest of us. You have demonstrated total professionalism and diligence.
BUT: the comments below reflect that you're running out of steam, and starting to focus on problems with the course as reasons to give up rather than obstacles to overcome. Fact is (no matter what way it's taught): consolidation is a difficult area but one that in the real world it needs to be done (and done right).

In one weeks' time, the exams will do what they're designed to: separate out those who can, from those who can't. We all get the opportunity to show we're up for the job such as taking ownership of preparing consolidated reporting. Remember, if you can pass these exams in just a few days time, you are then just a year away from holding an extremely formidable qualification that will underpin the rest of your career.

What I'm trying to say is this: Guys, don't take your foot off the pedal now. If you're exhausted then take a rest. If you need a break from studying, take a short but proper break and enjoy it (because you've earned it). Don't waste your time beating yourself up for running out of steam. Just do what you have to do to get your steam back, and carrying onto the exams with the professional approach that you've had up to this point and you'll all do a great job of them I'm sure.

    What do you mean?

All the updated solutions are in the place you get notes, under the "toolkit/ past papers tab". There's a past papers zip file there with all papers and solutions from Summer 09 to Summer 12 (incl Autumn 11).

Autumn 12 is not in the zip but is below the link for the zip file.

Hope this is what you're looking for.

Thanks for the words of inspiration!!! Personally this thread has been a god send to me during these exams. I don't know about the rest of ye but I suspect most are in industry or smaller firms like myself where we don't necessarily have a well established support network and know 100s of other people going through or been through these exams to get advice.

It has been a relief to vent my frustration and stress, find answers to questions I'm stuck on, help others with questions they're stuck on and to insult the institute in general :-)

Hopefully we will all pass all the exams we're sitting! We can do this, we'll go into these exams in 7 days time with a smile on our faces, feeling confident and thinking positive (and hopefully come out the same way!!!!). None of us are finding this easy, but they're not meant to be easy, but confidence and positive thought will hopefully make the difference!

It's definitely been a team effort between all of us here!!!

Yeah the thread definitely helps as I am in a smaller firm with little support network. Luckily I broke my exams up over 2 years so I completed Tax and Audit last year so I can ignore them questions ;)
Doing 4 exams at once would be very difficult and fair play to you guys for toughing it out.
