Just a query folks, does anyone know how many they're taking on board through this recruitment, or does anybody know how many they took from the last recruitment campaign, I know that every PO who applied for the early retirement package basically got it, before it was like 200 odd got it with pretty much everybody who was eligible to apply for it, and then they announced that everybody who applied for it got the early retirement package, think it was nearly 600 odd, just wondering how many did they take on for the last recruitment? so could figure out how many roles are open this time, something tells me not as many people applied compared to the last round, extending the application closing date, and a person I know missed the IST and got a phone call from them offering another chance

    Seems like a fair assumption.

Yeah that's what I thought too Gee, I'm gonna give it everything Ive got I'm just thinking about the psni side of things it's supposed to be a quick turn around this time with people passing out of garnerville by early spring that's only like six months from start to finish for the application process and I don't wanna mess anyone about, but at the same time there's nothing guaranteed that I would get in, if I didn't I don't think I can wait in the job I'm in, hate it with a passion retail management it sucks so bad lol, but if I'm in the prison service I think I would be happier, gonna give it all I have and then make my mind up if I get an offer

Will the results of the AC and clearing background checks etc. determine who gets an offer or is there any further stages after this?

Im currently trying to track down a GCSE certificate.

If I give them a certificate number can they phone to check my grades or will they not even bother to look and say tough luck?

CCEA? I'd send off for a replacement cert today buddy, think it costs 15 quid? not sure, better be safe than risking it IMO.

Its with OCR, and I have sent off for it. But it could be cutting it fine in relation to my a/c date.

When I was filling in vetting forms for the PSNI they only asked for immediate family and in-law's detail. I would think NIPs vetting would be along the same lines.

I'm sure if they dug any further back into most people, they could find a few dodgy relations.

I am having problems filling in the medical part of it. It asked for proof of two tests, I only have records of having one done but not the other. Has anyone else had this problem?

What's everyone doing to practice for this? I have all my paperwork completed and my gp has completed the other bit for me so just have to wait. I ticked both the PCO and the CO positions but would want the CO. does anyone know if u get a choice further down the line?

Query folks on the medical form there's a part were it says have you ever had a BCG if yes please give date and result? What's the result of a BCG lol I've had my gp fill in what he needed to fill but this bit stumped me lol, TB immunity is that the result lol

Mine just confirmed I was immune from TB and confirmed the date of my BCG and I circled that I had a scar myself as I didn't actually get to see the GP

I went to the gp and he signed off on the BCG but not the heaf test, I have no scarring though, which apparently was weird, but then I seldom scar or bruise must be the superman genes, I'm just gonna say immune to TB, what about the night worker form, what do I put in for dept? NIPS?

The heaf test would have been one week prior to the actual BCG. I just wrote my name on the forms & left the dept bit blank. What u doing to prepare for it?

My doc stamped mine for me but wrote heaf test not available nor circled that I was immune even though she said I was. I have the scar and she wrote the date I received it.

I phoned the NIPS recruitment team today and they said the BCG scar and stamp from the doc should be enough but if not I would be given time to get all the info required if I am successful at Assessment.

Yeah mine was stamped off too with the visible scar circled no, but the heaf/mantoux test left blank I got a print out of all my vaccinations too if it helps I dunno but whatever it's there anyway lol

I don't know wether to circle yes for TB immunity as I'm sure thats what the BCG vaccination does.

I have decided not to go for my a/c this week.

I only decided to sit the test as practice for the PSNI recruitment campaign that is on the horizon. I have only ever wanted to join the police and I feel my heart would not be in the nips, and I also wouldn't want to take a position if it meant someone missing out on their dream of joining the nips.

Best of luck to everyone still in the nips process. I just have to hope it will be 6th time lucky for me in relation to the psni.... :pac:

Gee ive followed this thread as well as PSNI. Imo you would be mad to miss out on a bit of practice for the police ac!
I dont think you will put someone out of a place as they will prob use a similar merit list and you can just turn it down at that stage.

I have been questioning myself Gee about the NIPS and PSNI. If I had a choice I would go for PSNI every time, but, I would be crazy to turn down the NIPS in the hope of beating 10,000+ other people for a job in the police. I have to look at it this way, is the NIPS better than the job I am in now, my answer is yes. Of course I am hoping that the PSNI launches soon and by some miracle I am at a similar stage at a similar time for both. It's unlikely, but all my friends who are now NIPS like it. There's part of me that wants to put all my eggs in the PSNI basket, but I have to resist.

You won't be stealing a place until you start training, hopefully by then PSNI recruitment would be well be under way by then.

I am in a similar position to you guys, I am police all the way first time for applying here, and I want it so bad, but at the same time I think to myself what if I don't get in to the psni this upcoming campaign can I stay in the job I am in, hell no! lol I think if I was given an opportunity I would take this role as a PO full on, and yes apply for the PSNI when it comes around, if I wasn't to get in the first campaign it wouldn't be the end of the world, I'm only 22, as it would be nice to get in as soon as possible I just don't want to be in the job I am in, I've discussed this with family members immediate and others who are in the job and they have said it wouldn't do any harm doing this and going onto the police it would be a natural progression as so many peelers were po's and vice versa, I'm just gonna play it out and see what happens

Your wisdom and life experiences will better my tender years though lol, I'm always constantly reminded that I'm only 22 from parents I have mates and family members that joined when they were my age and just want to do the same, do the 30 or 35 years or whatever and then retire and reap the rewards, if I make it to that age that is lol

I have to settle for 20-25 years, though goodness knows what the retirement age will be by then.
