Does it look strange when a girl is much taller than her boyfriend?

I personally dont date guys shorter than me, mainly because I find tall men a turn on.

I think it looks a bit silly to be honest! My last boyfriend was my height so I never wore heels.

Why would you confine yourself to a life of flats because you think an outward appearance is silly? My best friend did this with her ex...she spent an entire year wearing ballet pumps because he was short

There is something instantly attractive and sexy about a tall man! :P

I'm 5'8" in shoes. The wife is 5'11" in socks.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I'm 5'6, my girlfriend is 5'10, 6'1 in heels. I love it. Tall women are sexier, and I'm naturally sexy anyway. Win-win.

I must be the only woman alive who doesn't have a thing for tall fellas. All the men I've gone out with have been either a bit smaller than me, same height or a bit taller. Short and stocky. Mmmm.

This reminds me of the famous Nicole Kidman quote after her and Tom Cruise broke up: "Finally I can wear heels again!"

Each to their own, but personally I would be uncomfortable being more than 2 inches taller than the guy.

Sophie Dahl doesn't mind it though. She married Jamie Callum.

I'm 6'1" and my ex was 5'10". About my height in her heels and didn't phase me at all. Would definitely go out with a taller girl too. Sure if I can't be comfortable in my height at over 6 foot then something's wrong there.

Saying that, my gf is 5'4" and it's great :D.

I'm not tall 5'10" my ex girlfriend was 5'9", even though i was taller it did bother me a little that it was so close.

My current girlfriend is 5'2" and i feel much more comfortable with the height issue.

    Perhaps. To insecure people.

    Women should be shorter!

It's important when hugging them from behind. They think you are resting your head on their shoulder in a loving embrace but really it's to peak down her top.

I'm 5ft 1 so it's never been a problem, guys are always taller than me. My boyfriend is about 5ft 8/9 so he's not extremely tall, but we look grand together because I'm such a shortarse, and if I wear heels he's still taller :D

I only think it's silly to think that it looks silly, people need to get over themselves.

Some of the responses here scream if insecurity problems.

I'm 5"9, verging on 5"10. He's just about 5"8. Sometimes I do feel ridiculously tall next to him. But I've gotten over it. It possibly helped that my sisters guy is a bit shorter - they were going out first.

It's gotten to the point where I'm happy wearing 4" heels (I'm not able for higher abyway) when we go out. I just think to myself - people see a 44 yr old short guy with a 26 yr old leggy blonde and think "either he's well rich or he's damn good in bed".

I'll give you a hint. It ain't the money....

Why does it "scream" of insecurity rather than personal preference?

There is something instantly attractive and sexy about a busty woman.... But if someone said publicly that they'd only date women above a certain cup-size they'd be berated for being shallow, objectifying, etc. Acceptible with height though?

Don't really see why someone has to have a specific physical characteristic for you to find them attractive TBH. Who cares if some people think a couple look "silly"? Anyone who judges you on that is not really worth worrying about.

I'm 6 foot and women actually think I'm tall. Go traveling a bit and you soon realise 6 foot for a man is short haha I've dated a woman the same height but never any taller. She wasn't Irish so didn't wear the giant heal things. :D

I find a lot of the taller women to be incredibly sexy, I think it's the legs that do it for me, I'd say the issues though are mostly on the girls side that they wouldn't be mad for a shorter guy. I don't get though really, you might look odd as a couple walking down the road, but at the same time you're not going to be watching yourselves.

Where did you travel, Norway? South Africa? In most countries with most ethnicities 6ft would be considered tall.

Because it was described as looking "silly". If you're going to take into account not looking silly when choosing a partner, you're not very secure. IF you were, you wouldn't care what other people thought.

You can't really help what you think looks silly.

you can realise that you've perhaps been conditioned to believe it looks silly, when you acknowledge that you might just get over yourself and come to the conclusion that it's a load of BS.

I will say though it's actually somewhat refreshing to see this thread come up (coz this thread comes up all the time here) and for people to be honest and say ye I do think it looks silly, I don't think I've seen that before.

I have an imaginary box the height and width of me that girls must fit.. Not because of what people might think, just because I like the girl being shorter or the same height. I'm 5"7.

an imaginary box, havn't heard that before.

I am 6- 2, wife 5 -11. In my single days, never encountered any woman taller than me. Had girlfriends 6 -0 and 5 -4, not simultaneously! I probably would have steered clear of any taller ladies.

I'm way taller than my gf and I love being the little spoon!!!

My boyfriend said something very similar to me when we first met.

OK, I didn't mean the silly part, but I don't like guys to be shorter than me. I have tried it but I just find it a bit uncomfortable, personally. Not because I think other people are judging me by the way :P
