Does it look strange when a girl is much taller than her boyfriend?

Does it look strange when a girl is much taller than her boyfriend? The concept doesn't bother me personally but I hear a lot being made out of it in celeb magazines, even if a girl is slightly taller than her boyfriend. For example take tennis player Caroline Wozniacki (5'9.5 and Rory McIlory 5'8.5). Rory is about an inch shorter, so together in regular shoes, they look like this:

But when in heels it looks like this...

Do images like that put a lot of women off from 'minature boyfriends'. :D

Lets put things into perspective here, Rory is near average male height and isn't desperately short (about my height!)

Do you think being the golf world number 2 helps overcome that in her decision a little.

I personally dont date guys shorter than me, mainly because I find tall men a turn on.

I think it looks a bit silly to be honest! My last boyfriend was my height so I never wore heels.

Yes it looks a bit (a lot) odd.

I'm 6'2'' and God damn I'd hate to date anyone taller than me.

I'm 5'8" in shoes. The wife is 5'11" in socks.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I remember back in the 70's wearing cowboy boots with an inch and a half heel and it was sore on the calves the following morning.
Why do people want to be taller than they are?
If you meet someone your own height fine, but
Small Man Syndrome shouldn't be a factor.

An inch or so taller wouldn't be too bad but I'm 5' 10" and I wouldn't go out with anyone much taller.

If you're boning her why care?. Why bother with something so trivial, it only looks "Strange" to jealous men who wish they were with the leggy woman you are with, and yes I've dated taller women.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with you, I've hated every other post you've posted.

But exactly. My Mrs. has a good 3 inches over me. I can still throw her around the bed, 69 is uncomfortable though.

Any girl I've been with either wore flats or was considerably smaller than me, any time they were heels you feel like a bit of a dope but no one ever seems to notice that much or if they do they really don't care that much, everyone knows if a girl is wearing 6" heels well you know....

The tallest I'd go out with would be maybe an inch or 2 over me, I'd draw the line there.

Personally I wouldn't go out with some 6'4" giantess. Would be quite ridiculous looking.

I have an imaginary box the height and width of me that girls must fit.. Not because of what people might think, just because I like the girl being shorter or the same height. I'm 5"7.

5'8.5" is not near average male height!

Maybe it is in 60 year olds, but not across the board.

Depends on the country but 5'10 would be average height for 21-35 year olds in Britain, Australia, USA and Ireland. And 5'8-5'9 is near average height.

I'm 5 "1 and attract an insane amount of short men. I tried dating one once, he was about 5 "4, shorter than me in heels and it felt like I was hanging out with my little brother or something. Just couldnt get used to it.

It's an innate thing I can't really understand but there's something incredibly exciting and sexy about a tall man to me.

What is it that women find 70% of men below average looking...

I suppose we all have expectations that reality often doesn't match. We all fantasize about the ideal guy/girl we'ld like to be with and at the end of the day its nothing more than just a fantasy. In reality there's a lot more than comes down to choosing your partner than simply ideal looks and physique. Maybe if you're in CFJ and your physical appearance fits in some guy/girl's ideal then it may be easy for you to score/have a one night stand with said person. But relationships that start off in this way rarely last. I've many times seen women/men describe in great detail what sort of person they'll date and then end up dating someone who fits no where near their ideal partner image.

It does look a bit strange, but so does anything that's not the average.

I'd always have a lot of admiration for a short bloke that can pull a tall girl.
Its gotta take some cojones to chat her up in the first place

I think it looks a bit odd to be honest but what's worse is if the girl is of bigger build aswell as being taller. I see this one couple in town with about 6 inches of a height difference and perhaps 3 stone of a weight difference. The girl isn't even that big, your man is just tiny.

    Big mare, small horse situation.

Any girl I've known has always said they wouldn't go out with a shorter man. Tall is attractive innit.
In Rory's case, I wonder if the fact that he's a leading sportsman and multi millionaire is helping his cause at all? Hmmmm.

The missus is only about an inch smaller than me but I have to admit finding it a huge turn on when we're out- she's dressed up and towering over me in boots. I don't mind her being taller one bit. Hmmn hmmn hmmn.
