I was in Lidl yesterday and bought myself a SSR 1080 B2- which appears to be their standard HD sat box these days. I think I've seen it on sale there for a while now.

I've been having problems with my old MVision HD200 Combo for a while (not able to switch between diseq sources and not displaying channels) so I thought a new box was called for. I know they aren't equivalent as the Silvercrest doesn't do DVB-T and doesn't do PVR, but at this point I would settle for being able to watch telly.

Anyhow, it was one of those Lidl impulse purchases and I didn't do an research before buying. I assumed there would be a channel editor out there somewhere, but I can't find one on their site and I can't (so far) find one elsewhere on the webs.

Does anyone know of a channel editor for this box? Or is there a standard Lidl/Silvercrest channel editor out there?

    Thanks,

    z

I haven't had a chance to get on to the Lidl/Silvercrest support folks yet, but from looking at their support site they only seem to list the product manuals for download and no channel editor.

I know it's a bit late now that I've bought it, but does anyone know for sure whether there definitely is/isn't such a thing as a channel editor for their products?

Memo to self - check output options before buying next device - I've just had a look at it and there's no USB, no ethernet, not even a serial port. I wasn't expecting network or serial to be honest, but I thought that everything came with at least USB these days.

Memo to rest of world - don't bother with the Silvercrest SSR 1080 B2 - the only outputs are scart, HDMI, audio & video jacks & LNB. There doesn't seem to be any way to communicate with it, upload stuff, etc . . . Even when you set it up on 28.2, you are going to end up with ~900 channels and only the first few organised into any sort of order with the BBCs & ITVs and after that it's an unmitigated mess.

Now, time to dig out the receipt.
