    Heya,

    I'm trying to figure out what tools to use for video editing, so perhaps some of you with experience in this area can offer advice. I currently have iMovie 08. 7.1.4. I was thinking of updating this, but is one of the requirements a 64 bit OS? I've a 2008 iMac running ML, so fairly sure it's not that. What other options are there out there, Final Cut? This is for videos for work rather than personal use.

    I don't know if iMovie can manage something like this re the transitions, etc.

    I'm pretty sure your iMac is 64Bit so iMove is good to go. Max out the RAM and be sure to have plenty of hard disk space free.

    Final Cut is a major step up and is excellent to use though it likes plenty of RAM (as do most video editors) and a decent video card.

    Have a look here for other free options. I've used KDENLive on Linux and it's pretty good for free software !

    Would say the video you have shown is either done in motion or after effects. You would need plenty of experience and patience to attempt similar if you've never done before.

    After Effects, I believe.

    Updating iMovie is 1GB or so. My internet's been atrocious the past few days, so I may have to leave it for now.
