Back from 3 days in France.
Well advanced crops of OSR and barley but a lot of the crops around Paris looked very patchy. Took 1 3/4 hours on the train before I saw cattle (Normandes)

I'm delighted to report that the French also seem to have serrious problems with buttercup :D

And if you go back in July / August, you will see they also have ragwort in abundance:P I was astonished at the amount of it I saw last year, on the train from Le Harve to Paris.
Wonder how much of it came in here in the French hay:o

Can you give same mobile number for BVD tagging results /icbf, mine is in use already but elderly neighbour has no mobile and asked me to give mine to get results etc, was in a rush to post samples before work this morning so just lamped down my contact number but wondering now will my number not already be on system for my own herd and will they flag it up

    Yes it's fine.
Herd identifier is what they go by rather than mobile number.

Bad for seals is it not?

Sure it can't be any worse than some of the other chemicals that go into a sprayer. I know of two tillage farmers with cancer.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Some day here, after mowing two strong paddocks that'll.be baled tomorrow, could have left it another week but want to get back with rotation just in case the weather breaks and need grass

Never used it but I know a lad (now in the land down unda) who did and he had to replace all the seals on his tractor sprayer. He'd be a lad to keep things awful tidy.

I agree with chemicals being dangerous. Used to get fierce headaches off sheep dip years ago. Got some Thistlex a while back and reading the leaflet actually put me off using it

    What did ye discuss?

More importantly what did you take from it? Anything that inspired you to make a change?

my stocking rate, how much silage i will need for next winter, what i could do to improve the grazing platform... they said not to change to 100% spring milk but to work in 2 distinct groups as i am doing, and to put last year behind me and move on

A cousin of mine got lukemia 20 years ago when still a teenager. The largest group of cancer patients in the hospital he was in were tillage farmers. Guys who had used all the chem in the 70's and 80's before proper cabs and safety equipment were common place. Most of them died.
