Yeah usually, but the problem is I have no idea what the mixture is right now and it's not a healthy colour as it is... so I guess I'm wondering will it matter much if I put more coolant in than water at this stage? At most I'll be needing to put in about half a litre of anything to get it up to an acceptable level...

It's going to need a complete change once it gets through the NCT anyway!

I'd just top it up with coolant for the NCT then as you say, do the full change afterwards.

I'd go with the half litre of water. If it's not a healthy color it may have a mixture of coolants in it already. No point in adding another.

    Nice conflict there... :D

The colour it is now is some form of watery brown... it does not look healthy! The only reason I'm not insisting on a complete flush right now is that there's no time, NCT is tomorrow and it's just showing below the minimum line at the moment. Want to just get it through tomorrow and then I can sort out the rest.

    Cheers for replies anyway. :)

You might be as well of just to drain it and put in fresh coolant. Last week when my focus was in the coolant was a light colour. And when the mechanic went to do the tb and water pump. The whole water pump was rusted and on the way out. Just shows you the damage watery coolant can do. I never thought it would cause any real trouble. It has proper bright pink stuff now so one less thing to worry about.
Edit: sorry just seen you don't have time for coolant change I would just top it up with water and drain the whole lot after the nct then.

Seems someone got knocked down outside rcsi, traffic is mad there.... I was pnly there minutes before it happened :(

That's right, and the coolant I've used in fords is halfords advanced antifreeze and coolant. It's suitable for fords made after 1998 and it's pink.

I've been going mad for a DC2 the past two weeks, they really hold their value though!

I think anyone that drives a DC2 will probably be deaf to begin with.
Loud yokes, those b series lumps. :D

Great car drove one and with the lightweight wheels if you brake hard at a junction it tries to jump into nearby fields and the like.

I've only ever been in the passenger seat, felt seriously fast off the line with the factory LSD.
Graham_b18's old car at that, it was beautiful.

The old wive's tale is that next to the NSX they're the best handling car Honda ever put out.

Wouldn't go that far top 3 Fwd cars though, not hard to modify a decent Fwd chassis to have a nice neutral balance though.

Well that or make the chassis out of concrete blocks and old boots stick in a 240bhp engine and slap on an OPC badge :p

Best one Honda ever made, not out of everyone. That'd be a bit of a stretch. :P
There's supposed to be little point in touching their suspension set up, mostly breathing mods and vtec controllers.

That doesnt sound like the characteristic of a great car now does it? :p

well the only other black one is this 1997 with 108,000 km, it looks a little rough as its a grade 3 and I am not sure whats going on with the interior(are they the seats or do they have a cover over them?)

It has every extra tick so is fully loaded and it has a sunroof.
