Rover 600 auto with long test 'n' tax, leather, asking €1100

i'm quite tempted by this myself...

I had two Matiz s for over six years , brilliant wee cars.
Would buy this but not keen on silver and am allergic to spoilers.

Nice spot tc20. Around the engine bay in particular looks immaculate. Heres another one

Apparently this one has has some light scratches on the body but hey very few 15 year old cars don't and if thats the biggest complaint. The manual might have more universal appeal in this country but you might be seeking out an auto yourself. Again honda engine and relatively low mileage up on it. My understanding is that the seller is going to put a years test on it for current asking. Nothing near as much tax on it but it is asking smaller money

Some might say they're bland but I think they're quite smart and elegant for their year..

Thanks rugbyman........ I can't make my mind up (maybe that's a sign :D ). Been looking at a few reviews both on here and elsewhere.

I've just seen 2 others now and I'm completely confused:

    Fabia 1.4 2001 with 105k €1350 vs Golf 1.4 2001 with 115k €1500. Both have NCT running till early 2014.

    Thoughts anyone?

yeah, i'm in the market for an auto. i had a 00 Accord previously and it was faultless over the couple of years i had it. I'm kinda holding out for a nice W201, but they're few and far between (i'm being choosy) and i'm not in a panic to buy. If something else that ticks the boxes pops up, then we'll see.

NCT until 04/07/13. Well inside the three month gap to be retested again.

Admittedly the Saab would of course cost more to maintain but I'm questioning why a Toyota with no NCT* is acceptable but a Saab isn't. Would it not be fair to assume that the seller of that Corolla has no intentions of putting it through the NCT possibly because it has issues?

I just think that this idea that because it's a Toyota it deserves to be in here with/without and NCT is fairly ridiculous but you very quickly slam down the possibility of the Saab being entitled to be here.

where rest of post? NCT*, what * for?

when i see an ad like this i always get the feeling that it is kinda honest. It has no hub caps since it is just after the nct. It is an ad for a basic solid looking 13 or so year old car for not much money. They havent gone and polished the plastics under the bonnet and taken a photo they havent taken a photo of tyres showing thread depth etc.

It is how strongbow would do a car ad
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR_vVU-g-EE

i can see why someone would disagree.

I have a buddy who is moving back to ireland for 4 months. I have a few cars picked out to have a look at with him for when he is here. That mazda is on my list.

I have primera series II, am changing soon, no more Nissan for me, not like post 90s versions. Can only think of Accord in budget but might be other options? Under €2000, happy if less than €1500. Notions for me? :)

I think I look at this http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4966605 look ok in add, price look not high, €750.

Personally, I'd buy that Rover instead of holding out for a 'nice' W201 - which, as you said, are rare these days...

Seriously, if the Rover is as good in the flesh as it reads in the ad, go for it. Long NCT, 9 months tax.

Bargain hard, get it for €900, and you're laughing.

Very long test but unfortunately very low and has a stupid sun strip. But at €875 it looks like good value to me.

I think you may have missed dgt's point also Esel but maybe the reason for that is that the seller has since edited the ad and there is not one exclamation mark in it as far as I can see!!! It would seem that dgt has since deleted his comment also, I would assume that is in account of the seller editing their ad!!! Hmm, guessing the seller keeps an eye on this thread perhaps!!!

Anyway the Mazda seems to be good for the money its on at considering there is about €300 worth of motor tax on it. Colour wont appeal to everyone although its far from the most offensive colour and mileage getting a bit on the high side. But they are pretty robust machines and if minded reasonably well the mileage should not be a serious issue. 1.3 engine probably has that bit more appeal with the general population than the 1.5 due to motor tax* and the 1.5 is noted as being harsh enough on fuel for what it is.

*Don't want to get into a debate about motor tax. The point I am trying to make is, call a spade a spade, the general population will find the 1.3 that bit more appealing than the 1.5 primarily in account of the motor tax rates.

Pity the mileage wasn't nearly as low! Still though these can do 190k and many more not a bother. Pretty lazy ad in fairness. They could at least have rotated the snap of the NCT disc and at least one interior snap would have being nice to get.

Notice that only the drivers door has a colour coded door handle and I could be wrong but I think the shade of silver on it is a fraction different to the surrounding panels. Not entirely sure if I'd place too much trust a man that calls himself m3 either

    Hi folks,

I bought this Volvo S70 2.5L (Posted on this thread), to have as a spare car for 3 months so it is very soon surplus to my requirements. I thought I'd post it on here before listing it on donedeal. The POs details on it are below. All I've added are Xenon bulbs for the heads, dimmers and fogs and new sparks.

It's a very comfy car, packed with modern features. The PO spent a lot of money on the leather seats (from a 100K mile car) and I'm tempted to keep the front seats and make them into armchairs :)

There were 194,626 miles on it when I got and now there are 198,231 on it. There is loads of life left on the engine.

I'm looking for €350 for it and will list it on Dondeal for €450 in about a week. Tax runs out at the end of May. PM me if you're interested! Cheers, Enda.

"Comes with Fsh, sunroof, air conditioning Electric windows front and rear

    Boot spoiler

    front seats are Heated Leather

    Replacement PCV fitted

    New engine Top Mount fitted

    New oil filter and change

    Almost new tyres

    Timing Belt & Clutch replaced

    Clean alloys

Car has been flash code read and has no error codes and showing the normal 1-1-1 Flash code stipulating no errors

    Each bumper corner has scrapes

    NCT until 13-07-13

Fitted 6 stack boot CD player

Gear changes are smooth and fuel economy is actually very good. Get 31.6-32.4 mpg Urban and 38.9 - 40.6 mpg Extra Urban due to 10valve set up (I'm averaging 29.9 on mostly short journeys)

This car needs nothing done to it I'm a volvo enthusiast so look after my cars"

^^ Its so obvious that Volvo was well minded. Is it a 2.0 litre HiKite? Pity our silly motor tax system has made these kind of cars all but unsellable. Ah well...

It's a 2.5, I just edited the post, thanks. Tax is a bit much alright but at least the car isn't a guzzler.

But an exclamation mark at the end of almost every sentence.....

Is the seller shifty! Or serious! The car was well minded! It was serviced when needed! Just 1 key! Needs a timing belt! Sorry for the lack of pictures! Some service history!

Doesn't inspire confidence and doesn't look like the seller cares too much now does it....

Edit: Having said that the car was checked out and seemed to check out. But would you go to view a car with an ad like I've depicted?

    I have my doubts....!!!!!!!!!

A few exclamation marks wouldn't put me off a fe*king car :-) It's the car you are buying and not the seller ;-)

Fair enough. I don't go ramming my opinions down people's necks so why should I care, whatever suits the individual.....

As for buying a person, well, that's quite illegal now isn't it....
