On the touch site, what's the difference between "Start a discussion" and "Ask a question". Are people really that stupid that they need two very intrusive choices on the screen to do exactly the same thing? For those of us know what we're doing and what the pencil icon is for, is there any chance of adding an option to remove them?

This is horrible and is driving me nuts! Why can't that be visible for people not logged in and be gone for old users? It takes up half the screen on a mobile!

I'll take a look at removing that panel for logged in users now this morning

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
