    Approx 10-15 locos were sold/traded to Vic Berry of Leicester in 1990 for scrap, I say traded as the Mk2A coaches (non aircon) which IE acquired around the same time came from Vic Berry, the coaches were brought over, the locos went back as return loads

    Just to stir the pot a bit. The Irish Metrovics were mostly constructed by Metropolitan Cammell in their midland works. The complete upper portions were then transported to Metropolitan Vickers for fitting of engine and generator sets. Most books say they were constructed in Duckinfield but this is not true. They were only united with their power units and traction motors there.

    i don't see why. It's a discussion thread really, and has already branched out to construction of the A class.
