    At 56k miles the gearbox should be ok but if it's any way whiney possible not much left in it.

    I'd struggle to justify anywhere near the asking for it.

    Car is NCT'd till Jan 14
    Taxed Till Sept 13
    Has approx 240,000km on the clock
    Is automatic (was important for us)

    €850 - will prob take less.

    We were looking at this ourselves but went on another cai instead.

    Silver door handles? Much better than original ones, the black plastic looked terrible after only few years on them.

    Alfa 147 handles, grafted to fit along with a plethora of other Alfa paraphernalia never meant for a Fiat, but that's not for this thread ;)

    As for the S60, it sounds like it's looked after :)

    That's why they are not in this thread, also - to get good looking s40 you have to look at 2004 or higher, while s60 from 2000/02 is as modern looking as the one from 2006...
    Not sure about performance, but given it's size i can agree with you.
    Both are fast enough, and s60 2.0t will eat s40 1.8. Both are standard engines for those models in Ireland...

    youre dead right about the shape and years of these cars though if i was gonna buy a volvo it would be an 06 s40 over a s60 anyday

    Very very good find indeed. Taxed until the end of the year makes it very sweet. Rare enough to find what would seem to be such a clean unmolested one at this stage.

    Drove a 5 door one for a couple of years and they are a very reliable easy to run machine indeed. I know its a matter of personal opinion and taste but I think they have perhaps aged better than any other mainstream car from the mid 90's era

    This one is asking a few quid over the €2,000 mark and the mileage ain't low but I think the fact that it has new tyres and approx €560 worth of motor tax on the windscreen justifies me adding it to the thread.

    I've always thought that the facelifted mark 1 s40 was a sweet looking car especially with the right rims to set it off...

    Nice find and the Irish stereotype of this 'fear' of high miles means it's unlikely to fetch anywhere near it's asking...

    Supposed to be good reliable yokes so they are.
