    Hi all,
This is probably a very basic question, but I'm stuck.
I have a TV and Saorview box and was given an old DVD player. How do I connect them?

I have physically plugged in DVD to TV, but as there is only one scart socket on the TV, I had to unplug the Saorview box. Should it work? Am I missing something?

    Any advice gratefully received.

Yes it should work.Start playing a dvd in the player and then go into the menu of the tv and see if you can select one of the inputs until you see the picture that is playing on the player. If you succeed then you can get a scart switch with two or three inputs and one output lead that connects to the tv to save you changing leads. Be aware that the pins on the scart lead and the scart input on the tv are easily damaged. TMULL

A Saorview box should have a HDMI output, as do some DVD players. Does your tv have HDMI input?

Other options for connection of the DVD player could be component video (red, green & blue coloured "phono" sockets) or composite video (yellow socket). You also need to use audio inputs (probably the red & white stereo connections).

The Saorview box could use a scart-to-phono adapter.

Thanks guys, the HDMI thing sorted it out - all working now.
