Minecraft won't download

Can anyone help. I bought minecraft for my son for the pc today. For some reason it won't download. When I click on download it a box called java virtual machine launcher comes up and says ''could not find main class:net.minecraft.minecraftlauncher.program will exit" Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? Thanks

Is Java installed and updated? You're launching the Minecraft.exe right?

Managed to download it onto a laptop thank god! Must be a problem with the pc
