Other semis are in a double header in Dundalk rugby club on Saturday around same time
No idea who's favourites. Buccs will be good. Usually have a few players whove been playing AIL and are very good. Robbie Henshaw amongst others was on last buccs team to reach this stage of competition.

Navan have to be one of if not the best developers of youths players in the country Consistently great players coming out of that area. They don't always keep them but they certainly produce them

Have many Navan players goe on into provincial squads? Certainly seem to be strong at a young age. Massive change in the last 15 years orso.

Quite a lot. Always is a few players from Navan on Leinster Youths, A Schools and there often is a few from Navan and who played minis rugby in Navan on the Leinster Schools team(well there was in the last year or two)

Best player to come from Navan?

  • Registered Users Posts: 687 ✭✭✭lurtz

ones I can think of recently are Eamonn Sheridan, london irish, maybe Liam Bourke or Max Mcfarland, both underage internationals

Best player to come from Navan?
Don't know and difficult to say. Eamon Sheridan just signed with London Irish from Rotherham. Had done ok with Leinster but was always injured. Plenty of young players coming through youths and schools set up from Navan who could do well.

Season coming to an end in Munster with most competitions in their final stages. Finals and semis scheduled for the weekend are on link below

    Denis Hurley ?

David Beggy back in the day.

Based on the numbers coming through now you'd imagine it's just a matter of time before they get lads inot academies and onto provincial squads.

Anyone know anything about the U17 All Ireland semis

IMO it will be virginia and sligo in final.
honestly not sour grapes :D but Mullingar the unlucky team in leinster - had to play semi without our 10 who was playing u18 international v italy. mullingar pack caused a lot of trouble to navan earlier in year, so virginia could expose this if they are as big as they say. also navan seem to have a lot of last years 15s in their starting team.
sligo have beaten all very convincingly in connacht this year and that team have been dominant through the various years

Finally sportsground is more "neutral" for buccs and sligo than the cork teams - would have thought somewhere further south was fairer

Connacht sides had home draw in semi finals against the Munster sides just like Navan have the home draw as Leinster champions and are playing both their semi finals in Dundalk.
where would you have played the games?
Best of luck to the 8 teams playing this weekend. Hopefully there will be some media coverage on the games on sunday or monday

I think defferent as Waterpark and Navan Were raging hot favourites from the start of the competition, Clonakilty beat us by 2 points but they were dominent all match. very strong all round team. you say "neutral" its no supposed to be neutral the munster and connacht branches go every second year.

How do people see the 19s game going, I'm going to try and live tweet the Bandon v buccaneers game tomorrow, my twitter handle is the same as my username on this

Hard to say. Both Navan sides will have quite a few players who have experience of winning an all Ireland last year. all should be good games.
At 19s Buccs will be strong as they have quite a few players who won Connacht schools cup with Marist and have several players with provincial recognition.

Games are still neutral. Games held in Munster/Connacht venues with Leinster/Ulster the next but games are still neutral venues.

Good to see some live updates will be available.
Buccs will be strong and may edge the game. A match report from their Connacht league final win is here if you have not seen it yet.
Navan will win the other 19s semi in my view

    bandon beat buccaneers 17-3

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 slatterg

    Bandon 17-3 buccaneers
    Sligo 17 - 3 Clonakility.
Bandon where very good. Turned over tons of ball and didn't give away many penalties. Game closer than score reflected but bandon 10 kept the scoreboard kicking over with three drop goals

Fair play to navan - some achievement to get to both finals.

Very good achievement. Cant recall it being done before. There has been a few occasions where clubs have won both u16/18 and 17/19 provincial titles in the one season but I don't think any club has been on both All Ireland finals in the one season.
