    Hi everyone!
Age Action is currently recruiting volunteers for its advocacy programme in north Dublin. Volunteers need to be able to give six hours a month. They are needed to chair residents committees in nursing homes. These committees are valuable ways of providing a voice for older people who are resident in these homes.

Volunteers on this programme tell us that they feel they are making a real difference to the lives of the older people they work with. Full training is provided.

For more details about the positions and the requirements visit http://www.ageaction.ie/sites/default/files/pdf/Volunteer%20Advocate%20Advertisement.pdf

    Question...
Why don't you set somthing like this up in the south-east region of Ireland?

There is no organisation in Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny ,....

Thanks Suzanne! The programme is only running in north Dublin because this the work is funded by the HSE for this region only. We would love to extend it further.

Our friends in the Third Age Foundation run the Third Age National Advocacy Programme where they provide volunteer advocates in nursing homes. They are in other parts of Ireland and may be worth contacting. The website link for the relevant page is http://www.thirdageireland.ie/what-we-do/41/national-advocacy-programme/
