Dentist left a bit behind

    Hi,

I need a bit of advice. I recently had my bottom left back tooth removed. Almost a month ago. The gap started to fill in a few weeks ago, all fine. I've just realised that he left a bit of tooth behind because it is starting to stick out through my gun on the inside. There is no ache as such so I'm assuming its not attached to the the nerves. However I feel it coming through the gum.

What are my options? I can't go back to dentist as have moved to the UK for work since then. If it is to be removed then I would imagine the gum would have to be sliced open?? Any ideas?

Most likewly a bit of loose bone, it will work its way out. A very common thing after and extraction. If your worried or there are symptoms then go to a dentist for a X-ray.

Thanks for your reply. When you say it will work its way out do you mean it will pass through the gum into my mouth? What about possibility of infection when this happens?

I had a tooth removed recently and have the same problem. When I went back to the dentist for more work he told me it's normal and that it will just work its way out and probably come out someday when I'm eating something.

Shouldn't need the gum to be sliced open at all if I'm understanding you right and the impression I got from my dentist is that there is no danger of infection or anything like that.
