It amazing to see a good few members on here who have been on boards.ie since 2001 and before and are still posting 12/13+ years later. That is a lifetime.

It's not even a third of my lifetime.
My question is how did you hear about boards.ie and why did you join?

Trying to find a super socket 7 or a slot A motherboard. Never did find a slot A board, and a good, original AMD Athlon went to waste.

I joined because there was a lot of loose women on boards back in the day and if anyone knows how to give a belly rub, its a loose woman.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

In all honesty, not sure why. I joined in 08 I believe but only stated to use it consistently a couple of years ago.

No, that suits her just fine;)

I was in TY asked in the leaving cert forum 3 years ago if I should do Physics or Chemistry for the leaving cert, I didn't want to do either but had to pick one. I ended up taking both and somebody on boards convinced me to take up Japanese for the craic. I'm still speaking it :pac:

My then boyfriend was a member and made me join. Then I lurked for a bit, posting here and there until last year when I went a bit mad posting and shot up a few thousand posts :pac:

My 5 year anniversary is coming up soon too :p

I joined in 2000, and quickly developed a reputation as one of boards most obnoxious trolls. I got a peculiar kick out of winding people up on the Internet. I then got bored, and stopped posting.

I rejoined in 2010 following the hacking incident. I now engage in passionate, yet respectful debate, and take this whole Internet thing very seriously.

One of my friends was on it a lot, so that piqued my interest, and so here I am.

Was working part time in a call centre and studying computers in college, so I had a lot of time to kill and access to (then) high-speed internet access in very public places. That ruled out porn, so I went with boards instead after I saw a colleague using it.

Signed up as a mate told me about it when I was starting college.

Took me about until about 18 months to two years ago to actually start posting regularly. Reading After Hours and the Soccer Forum is probably what got me hooked eventually.

I was going to sign up but then decided not to.

One of the best decisions of my life. Can you imagine how much time I'd waste had I signed up?

Used to frequent over at the Digital Art & Design forum for ages. Posted regularly in the Photoshop Tennis forum.

Started showing my mug around these parts after a while. Mainly to get a chuckle from the poo threads :pac:

Because Boards needed someone with a speech impediment who knew good TV and could find plenty of ways to save money for the Irish people...

    .. that's why!

Lurker. Really like the constant flow on the rugby forum, branching out slowly now.

No poo threads allowed any more. Even banned the gentleman who started most of them. Seems you aren't allowed talk about a perfectly normal bodily function, but are perfectly entitled to start threads advocating death sentences, misogyny and voting for Sinn Féin.

Wanted to talk about Counter-Strike. It was Dav's fault I think.

Here I am now still nerding it up 13 years later.

I've a boards account older than you I will say disdainfully to my children in the future whenever I have children.

Ive been a member for nearly 11 years now. I originally joined to get some information on IrDa transfers on the SE T610 and then I started helping others. Since then Ive gone downhill!

To be quite honest about it, I didn't. Boards joined me.

Littlewoods were selling computers for €1.99 or something so I bought 20. Signed up to boards to complain about my order not being honoured. Many like-minded cheap gits were also here moaning.
