Chronograph suggestion

Been trawling around for a while looking for a chrono...dont want to pay huge money for one as I've blown a lot of funds recently on some other watches and the chrono would get lots of use and probably a bit of hard wearing

Want a military/pilot style, preferably black case, black face, white clear hands with clear numbers...not too cluttered and date in the '3' position

Came across this Citizen Eco Drive on fleebay much cheaper than anywhere else

16mm is surprisingly thick for a quartz chrono - peasant's Polish Dzik is 15x42 so he might comment how that size wears...

Parnis is an umbrella marque for Chinese watches so the quality of one can wildly differ from another. But the prices are also, as you know, very low so I took the plunge myself on a simpler pvd cased auto earlier: case construction, hands and watch face are excellent, hands align to twelve perfectly, watch has a nice heft; however, (on mine) clear case back looks cheap and stupid (thankfully, obviously, can't be noticed when wearing) and original strap is only okay. I can't comment of time keeping as I haven't actually worn it yet (was considering flipping it immediately having gone and both yet another watch shortly afterwards).

Overall though, while it won't impress a watch collector, it does look like it is worth ten times what I paid for it.

Also, specific to your case, I've seen reference to that seller before on watch forums elsewhere and the remarks have been good/positive.

It's fairly thick alright

plus that particular watch is very heavy so I put it on a heavy bracelet for counterbalance as it was very unbalanced / top heavy on the original strap.

I'm going to keep the search on for the chronograph for a while...I just can't find something that ticks all the boxes at the moment

But I came across this Parnis Automatic on my searches and I just couldnt resist it. For less than the price of a fill of diesel, I pulled the trigger on it and will give you an update on it once I get it

It just kept shouting at me "Buy me". If its not my cup of tea when it arrives I am looking for a 30th birthday pressie for the brother in law so not all will be lost

What do you guys think? Reading says they use a Sea-gull movement which by all accounts the reviews seem positive, although I realise with Parnis it can be very hit & miss and an automatic for this money, I'm not expecting miracles

Could anyone recommend me a chronograph about 45mm diameter and circa 16mm thick... Priced in the region of €200-€400?

Recently bought the Seiko 007 (I know it's not a chrono) and its a nice watch but am just looking for something bigger.

you cant go far wrong with a Steinhart...I have an O1B and the quality for the price is top notch

Small bit!! That's over twice the price of your supposed ceiling!

But certainly you'll be getting a very nice watch there, have a Steinhart myself and love it.

Yea lovely chunky watch just the way I like them.

I know nothing about watches, my addiction is only in its 4th month, but is there some watch difference between the 2 due to the serious price difference and the description of the bottom been a "female solar"? They look identical to me?

Don't go buying 47mm watches online unless you've tried on one your wrist that's as big, particularly lug to lug length.

I hope I like it, because I really love the look of it!!

When you get in to watches it sure does consume a lot of time... I have the page showing the Steinhart open all weekend on the Ipad and keep looking at it every hour or so...

What a sad life I lead.
