Hi, I want to spray off the grass around 40 trees in my garden, they are about 5-10 years old of varying species. How safe is it to use round up in this instance? Is it just a case of making sure not to get any spray on the tree stump and leaves but no problem around the base? Or am I better off to use the round up in a watering can for more control?

Should be fine once you avoid the leaves

You'd be better off to use Gallup or Touchdown which is half the price but does the same thing as Roundup ! I've sprayed with these weed killers for years around new hedging/ trees without any issues.

Yopu could allways dig out the grass sod from around said trees and then underplant with some lovely ground coverage plants, grasses and flowers.

Just a thought for you to consider.:)
