GSD=German Shepherd Dog (sounds like a syndrome when used to refer to people tbh)

    Are you GSD?
    Yes I very am!

    I like QUILTBAGPIPE

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

LGBT became LGBTIQQA — adding Intersex, Queer, Questioning and their Allies — which was still very limiting.

No fuk off with that shíte, their allies? Seriously they're taking the piss.

It's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender. Wft does "queer" or the likes of that have to with anything?

It's just inclusion for the sake of inclusion and it's getting ridiculous if they feel the need to add more pointless letters to it. Eventually won't solely be about sexuality at all. It's stupid.

It's not solely about sexuality now anyway. Transgender =/= a sexuality. It's a gender issue. Yes, some trans folk are gay, but not all. I see no problem with including them in the LGBT banner. And some people don't like direct labels, so they identify as queer. What's wrong with that? If that's how they identify, who are we to judge?

Having said that, I do think the acronym thing has the possibility to get a bit unwieldy, but I really don't like GSD. It really does sound like a syndrome.

yep, I do. I identify as queer because I don't feel I fall into other categories as they are gender typified. And I'm not trans as I don't feel one way or the other about gender. (mine specifically)

I'm aware of this. There are people who feel transgendered people shouldn't be included, and I see their point. Quite frankly, I don't see the issue with it. They've been their for long enough that I wouldn't like them to feel completely segregated but primarily, they are disjointed from the rest.

Some people identify as queer, what is that? Can I identify as faggot?

But personally that's where I stand on it. It is a sexual orientation issue and transgender with it. Why do they feel the need to add BDSM and sexual interests to it? It makes it all a joke.

I've a thing for fit, masculine Aussie men with facial hair, where's my letter?

A line has to be drawn somewhere in fairness without it all becoming a complete piss take with an ever growing list of irrelevant letters.

Brand me a retard without trying to discuss things on a more civil level and I'm the one that supposedly needs educating?

    This is stupidity.

Quite frankly, I find the idea that everybody who doesn't identify as straight, monogamous and sexually active/interested should be treated the same.

Our issues and are experiences aren't the same, so why should I have to represent that or be linked to them.

I want to get married and have kids when I grow up while maintaining an active bit relatively unkinky sex life. I have more in common with your average straight guy than I do a polyamorous asexual.

And does nobody else see the irony of changing the term to make it "more inclusive" when the new term seems to be defined as simply being "everybody but straight monogamous sexually active/interested people."

Why are they excluded? Surely they should be allowed fit under the umbrella?

I don't have a problem with being labelled gay. It's something I am and am happy to be.

I don't however want to be defined by what I'm not, or my supposed non-conformity or otherness.

And I like sex, so I can't ever really see myself ever getting invested in the plight of asexuals.

It's not stupidity. The world is run on a heteronormative basis. Even moreso a male heteronormative basis. Expanding LGBT to include more non-heteronormative experiences is in line with pretty much any sexual liberal thinking and philosophy. But go ahead thinking all that matters is gay men. That's just as bad as straight men looking down on gay people.

From a person who claims they are proud to be gay, this is absolutely horrific. People fought for years, and are still fighting, to get your right to express your love for other men, to get married, to adopt with another man, and you turn around and slap them all in the face with a comment like that

How dare you. How dare you belittle anyone who isn't gay because "they don't share the same experiences" as you. There are still massive problems with gender and sexual rights in this country, as you well know. And now, because you seem content with what you have, you are going to give two fingers to others who have supported your cause?

What if ever single straight person in Ireland had gone "Well, I'm not gay, no need to support them!" Where do you think you'd be now? Cop on, grow up and stop thinking about "what's best for gay men" and think what's best for everyone
