    Hi - would be grateful for assistance on this problem.

    Can anyone help advise how to isolate the G in the following formula - I can't remember how to treat the G in brackets when rearranging.

    G-(Gx0.2)-(Gx0.04)-(Gx0.07)=Net

    Can anyone help?

    Alternatively I'm pretty sure I've seen an excel function where you can ask computer to work backwards through a formula from the given end value - however I don't remember what the instruction is called.

    Can anyone help???

    Thanks in advance.

    The G is a "common factor", so can be taken out of each term:
    G*(1 - 0.2 - 0.04 - 0.07) = net
    G*(0.69) = net
    G = net / 0.69

    Maths Maniac - thanks for your reply.
    I got a brainwave last night and got the same answer.
    Wouldn't dare claim I had the same understanding re common factor tho, but good to see your answer is the same.
    Regards
