    How do your results compare when you compare your Summer or Christmas results? I'm not doubting your abilities in school, but it doesn't simply come down to when they started. In all fairness, you did get a large opportunity to study as your mocks begun right after the christmas break.

    yH BUT IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT WHO WILL HAVE BETTER GRADES A PERSON WHO HAD AN EXTRA MONTH TO STUDY FOR THE ACTUALY JC EXAM OR A PERSON WHO HAD NORMAL MONTHS ?

    Just wanting to know from all your opnions,my friend and I are having this argument for over a month now:
    He got in his mock WHICH TOOK PLACE DURING THE MIDDLE OF FEB:
    English =C
    Maths =A
    Science =B
    Geography =B
    History =A
    Business =B
    Italian =B
    French=C
    Wood =B
    Metal =A
    Cspe =B
    A= 3 B= 6 C= 1 D=
    NOW MY MOCK WHICH STARTED THE EARLIEST OUT OF ALL OF IRELAND'S SECONDARY SCHOOL(7TH JAN) FOR SOME STUPID REASON'S I DO NOT KNOW AND HAS TOOK THE MICKY OUT OF ME DUE TO THE CRAPPY RESULTS I HAD GOTTEN WHICH PUTS THE REPUTATION OF BEING A GOOD STUDENT DOWN
    THIS IS WHAT I GOT:
    English-39%E
    Maths-65%C
    Science-75%B
    Geog-75%B
    History-66%C
    Business-66%C
    Wood-53%D
    Metal-73%B
    Italian-38%E
    German-41%D
    Cspe-75%B
    4B 3C 2D 2E
    NOW IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT HE HAD A WHOLE FULL MONTH AND SOME FEW DAYS TO STUDY, DOES STILL TAKE THE FACT HIS GRADES ARE BETTER THEN MINE IN CONSIDERATION OF STUDY TIME WISE, I MEAN IF I HAD AN EXTRA MONTH I COULD MOVE UP A GRADE OR TWO IN ALL SUBJECTS

    They were hardly a suprise to you, you obviously knew beforehand, you should have studied earlier. The time of the year excuse doesn't apply, he probably studied longer, I doubt either of you started in September,

    You knew about your mocks yes? You should have studied earlier

    The time of the year excuse is quite dumb as it doesn't take like 4-5 months to study everything.

    My advice - Stop making excuses because you didn't do as well as you wanted too, and just study for the real thing, mocks don't really matter anywayz

    Also taking the fact the course finished for most of subjects in december

    Stop clutching at straws, the reality is is that the main reason you didn't do as well as you might have wanted in the exams was yourself, not the time of the mocks beginning or the quality of your teachers. These are factors to your results but the most important thing is your own ability to revise.

    If you were informed in september, that leaves you withhhh... 4 months and a few extra days to study, you could have easily studied during that time but I bet you didn't. I don't mean to sound like an asshole but you shouldn't compare your results with a person who seems more capable, concentrate on youself and improving for the JC rather than being pissed

    Don't have any straws available at home,sorry
    So you are saying if I had my brother teaching Italian to me and I got an E it would have been my fault still....
    Great,just great

    It's a phrase, you know. It means that you're trying to find excuses for your poor situation. If you had a home teacher and you still failed it, then it is simple, you are poor at the subject. It's no one else's fault, It's yours.

    I know its a phrase, was only messing with you
    I have no poor situation, Like I said I am not angry or sad about results I admit for Wood work I could had done better and that is the only subject I admit solomely that the grade I got was ALL MY FAULT.
    But why is is that the previous teacher I had I got A and B.
    The teacher is good, like he is fun but not the greatest
    Due to having a class average of 52% in our class anyways

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 759 ✭✭✭Man City 10

    But I''ll say I'll hopefully get a C or D in the actual JC Due to oral and all which you just learn off basic stuff
    It's kind of a surprise how not that many people do Italian in some schools like I think we are the only school in the place I am doing Italian

    Because maybe it is possible that with that teacher you felt more motivated to study. Even then, if you do have a poor teacher, once again, you're the only one who has to compensate for this with more study. Like I said, a good teacher is still a factor in your result, but you studying is more of one.

    Your poor situation is how you are complaining your mocks were too early and how you have a bad teacher in italian, that's what your poor situation was.

    You should become a siocologist.
    But taking that behind
    It's ok we can stop talking about this my friend and I came to an agreement to forget the pres and compare in the JC because it is only fair as there is not going to be any excuses then.

    There's a lot of presumption going on here, not least that both sets of mocks were corrected to an acceptable standard.

    Got my first 3 results today:
    Geography-91%
    English-97% :D
    Irish-79%

    I'll admit I am a perfectionist so my Irish result bugged me, even though I got the highest in my class, lol :o It's mostly because of how hard my eachtra was marked, I got 34/50, I usually get 48-50! Plus I've looked over it and can only find one or two mistakes so I dunno really :/

    Those are brilliant results! I wouldn't worry too much about the Irish result, it's a hard subject and to get a high B is very good in it. Definitely gives you a good starting point for an A in it, seeing as you have plenty of time until June.

    CSPE = 85%. Happy with that it was the highest in my class.

    Today just got my first result .. English Higher level 72%. I'm the only one who got a B in class and it was the highest. I didn't do extra paragraphs for ambition and I made up 80% of my essay on the day. I'm sure I would of got an A if I added more paragraphs and maybe planned the essay more. I'm very pleased tho :D.

    I'm $hitting myself for the maths result, I hate maths :/

    Paper 2 is the easier one in my opinion. Paper 1 gives so much room to screw up,
