model Douglas A- 1 Skyraider -- help

I am trying to track down the details of a largish plastic scale model of the Douglas A- 1 Skyraider.

I struggled to build it (and failed) as a young boy in the early 1960s and am still haunted by the failure.If I ever got the chance I would love to buy the kit and build it.

It had loads of fantastic features including working undercarriage, folding wings and a bomb that dropped, detailed cockpit and engine.
It was I think an American made kit (I might be wrong) and it was brought in London.

If any body can remember it and point me in the right direction I would be grateful

I built one too. It was the matchbox 1/48 scale one. It seemed huge!
Though I managed to build mine!

But i hung it from the ceiling and one night it took flight, and ended up in little bits all over the ground. It also took my douglas dauntless out too. I was a very sad little boy.
Funny thing is, a few months ago I got to see the douglas dauntless kit that i made and realised it was pure crap! So much better available today.

Anyway, If your kit was american, I wonder was it the AMT.Ertl kit?
