Influence is a provocative workplace ensemble centered on the complicated relationship between two brothers who head a unique agency designed to attack their clients' problems using the real science of human motivation and manipulation. Killen will write and executive-produce.

Sounds like The Mentalist meets The Apprentice, I'm in already.

I'm basically pulling out pilots i *think* will go to series and posting updates. Just based on general buzz, twitter and industry blurb, so The Selection i one i think has a shot along with The Carrie Diaries.

    Castings news etc.

The Selection. Ethan Peck, is set to star opposite Aimee Teegarden in the project, which draws parallels to The Hunger Games. Based on the upcoming series of books by Kiera Cass, The Selection is described as an epic romance set 300 years in the future. Written by Elizabeth Craft & Sarah Fain and directed by Mark Piznarski, it centers on America Singer (Teegarden), a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to marry Prince Maxon (Peck) and become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads. Maxon has an unusual run-in with potential bride America and is impressed and intrigued with her honesty and moxie. Peck’s credits include feature In Time, a regular role on ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You and an arc on the CW’s Gossip Girl.

The original pilot was rewritten and will be reshot soon, here are some of the changes:

    http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/02/the-selection-20-spoilertv-preview-on.html

The CW has revamped last year's The Selection, the pilot set 300 years in the future about a poor woman who is chosen by lottery to compete to become the next queen of a war-torn nation.

Changes include: toughening up its lead, adding more focus on the palace politics and rebel uprising with alot more sex!
The additional focus on the palace includes adding new characters such as Prince Rafe, the much more responsible younger brother of prince Maxon who is having an affair with Fiona, a girl competing in The Selection, Prince Maxon himself is even more of a bad boy in this incarnation, hosting strip pool games and almost raping the main character in a scene, America is a much tougher character this time around more 'Katness' like, she is completely against the state and the ideology the palace represents and attempts to flee The Selection but is forced to "play along" with it in order to save the man she loves; Aspen, a man from her village who is recruited into the army and stationed at the Palace. Aspen is very outspoken and often speaks out against authority causing him to be 'disciplined'. Different political forces control many of the 25 girls competing in The Selection, meanwhile the rebel army plan on kidnapping America and using her to rally the people in their uprising.
Overall the pilot is very much a mash-up of Revolution, The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones and The Bachelor

ABC Family is adding to its drama slate. The younger-skewing cable network has greenlighted the Dexter-esque Twisted (formerly Socio) and Jennifer Lopez's The Fosters to series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Both scripted dramas will begin production this spring for summer launches. Their orders are in line with ABC Family's typical pickups, usually in the range of eight to 12 episodes.

The CW's pilot The Tomorrow People is basically X-Men set in high school where mankind has begun mutation into two different types of people 'The Tomorrow People' who basically all have the same powers; Telekinesis, Telepathy and Teleportation but have different specializations, and another mysterious race that predates the tomorrow people.

The series is lighter in tone than CW shows like "The Vampire Diaries' filled with CW high school drama and love triangles. It explores the mutants' struggle with their powers, the conflict between the two factions and the government's dealing with their existence. There isn't really much original about this script, the CW basically asked for 'X-Men' in high school, word is the CW is eyeing this as a possible companion for 'Arrow' next season

According to Digital Spy the BBC have commissioned a whole load of new dramas
The BBC has announced a number of new commissions including a series from Misfits creator Howard Overman called Atlantis.

Death Comes To Pemberley, a three-part adaptation of PD James's homage to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, written by Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls).

Breakdown is an eight-part thriller written by Jack Williams and Harry Williams, about a man whose son is snatched while on holiday in France.

The Interceptor is another eight-part series from Tony Saint, telling the story of a top secret law enforcement team aiming to hunt down Britain's most dangerous and ruthless criminals.

Emma Frost's Jamaica Inn is a three-part adaptation of the classic Daphne du Maurier novel, a gothic romance set in 1820 and centred around young Mary Yellan, who becomes entangled in a dangerous criminal world.

Remember Me is a three-part mystery from Gwyneth Hughes, about a frail old Yorkshireman who becomes the sole witness to a violent death while moving into residential care.

Really looking forward to Jamaica Inn, it was a great book but the Hitchcock film version was terrible, hopefully the BBC will do a better job.

The Bridge is officially a go on FX due to start filming in april for a July air date, Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir are two detectives assigned a case to track down a killer that is operating on both sides of the US/Mexican border,

to my knowledge Kruger is a US detective and Bichir will play a Mexican detective,

the show is based on a Scandinavian series, and one of the Homeland writers Meredith Stiehm is on-board as the show-runner,

Certainly be a far more interesting show if Kruger was the Mexican detective and Bichir the American one.

Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West to play Taylor and Burton
One of Hollywood's most turbulent love stories hit the rocks altogether when Elizabeth Taylor collaborated with Richard Burton for an ill-starred stage production of Noel Coward's Private Lives. Now the behind-the-scenes dramas are to form the centrepiece of BBC drama, with Dominic West as Burton and Helena Bonham Carter as Taylor.

Directed by Richard Laxton, Burton and Taylor will chart the actors' fraught stint in the play, which opened at Boston Shubert theatre in April 1983 before moving on to Broadway. The 90-minute picture will screen on BBC4 in the UK and looks likely to be viewed as a swansong for the channel, which has had its drama budget axed as a consequence of wide-ranging BBC cuts.

Gage Golightly cast in CW pilot Company Town, she was in Teen Wolf and Ringer: http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/02/company-town-gage-golightly-to-star.html

Company Town doesn't really feel like a CW show, its more CBS/Lifetime style. The show follows women in the navy and their families and love lives, the show focuses alot on the hardships they face at work for being women. Honestly the pilot was extremely boring with nothing really interesting happening, the pacing was extremely slow, one of the main storylines in the pilot is that a women gets sexually assaulted and the mystery is discovering who assaulted her. The target audience seems to be older than most CW series. This seems like the weakest CW pilot by a long shot and felt more like an infomercial about discrimination against women in the navy.

If it's half as good as Starship Troopers......i'm in!! :D

    http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/07/11/starz-announces-new-projects-incursion-and-vlad-dracula-from-spartacus-producers/141237/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Tvbythenumbers+%28TVbytheNumbers%29

As part of STARZ overall deal with “Spartacus” creator Steven S. DeKnight, STARZ is developing “Incursion,” an epic science fiction action-thriller that follows a squad of soldiers caught in a war against a hostile alien race. Each season the battle will be fought on a new, exotic planet as humanity punches deeper into enemy territory. Grittily realistic combat, darkly complex characters and intrigue on a cosmic scale will permeate the tale of fighting men and women facing the pressures of war and an enemy unlike any ever seen. In addition to his international acclaim on “Spartacus,” Steven has worked on such well-regarded series as “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, “Angel”, “Smallville,” and “Dollhouse.

He also discussed "Incursion," the military sci-fi drama that he's developing for Starz. He calls it "Band of Brothers" meets "Halo" and says it's a "boots on the ground" adventure tale rather than an outer-space story. Each season will follow one squad of soldiers and take them to a different planet, and the drama won't be as CG-intensive as "Spartacus."
