Maximum size shed allowed without planning permission?

    Hello,

    I have have a question for you lot. On our current farm we have a cattle shed (with solid floor and slanted roof). Now the current shed is 52 X 16Ft. The plan was to put another side to the shed, making the 'A' style roof. The new side will only come out about 10Ft, making the shed 52 X 26Ft.

    My question for you is, would this shed be to big to be fine without planning permission or what is the maximum size allowed with planning permission?

    Buildings and Structures

    The provision of the following types of agricultural buildings and structures
    is exempted development:
    A roofed structure housing cattle, sheep, donkeys, horses, deer or rabbits,
    provided that its floor area does not exceed 200 square metres and that the
    total floor area of all Type 1 structures within the farmyard complex (or 100
    metres of it) does not exceed 300 square metres;

    Depends on surrounding buildings on your farm and possibly on neighbours. You can build a farm building up to 200m2 exempt up to a threshold of 300m2 total farm buildings within 100m. For example if you want to build 150m2 but you or your neighbours have 160m2 of farm buildings already within 100m of where you want to build then you need planning as the total exceeds 300m.

    not meaning to hijack but I have two derelict A-roof sheds side by side sharing the centre wall. what I would like to do is put one A-roof over the shed using the same outer walls with supports from the centre wall and eliminate the valley between the roofs.

    hope I explained it ok. is planning needed as I would not be increasing the m2?

    I have 5 acres and am looking to farm it. It will not be commercial and the it is more of a hobby farm and to be self-sufficient.

    Is there a minimum size in acres to have farm buildings?

    I am thinking 60 sqm for machinery, 60 sqm for pig and sheep 2 units, and 60sqm for storage. Height approx 5 m.

    Also there is a 60sqm concrete slab poured close to the road that is ready for a shed.

    Do I need planning for any of this?

    If you draw a simple plan for what you're planning, including distance from the road and any other structures .

    I had a look and if the structure is within 10m of the road it is not exempted development.
