Just so you know,Mrs Brown recently used this gag in an episode like no one would notice.

    I **** you not.

It's one of many ideas and jokes "borrowed". I actually saw that episode last week as my mom was watching it.

MBB is getting cruder as the series goes on. Brendan O'C went the same way, he was amusing starting off then as he ran out of gags, he depended on smut to get his laughs. I do like the bits when they make obvious mistakes.. Your one who plays Kathy (his wife I think in real life) is so useless, she's constantly grinning and the way she keeps calling him/her 'mammeee' annoys me. Fr Ted was total genius.

I flicked onto "Mrs Browns Boys" momentarily.

I would have been happier if I had cat aids

I tried watching Mrs Brown's Boys a few times, but don't find it that funny ....seriously Brendan O'Carroll had his day back in the early 90's end of.

well he himself, seems to think he's pretty funny during the show.. and anyone of his employees on set, who doesn't dare not laugh accordingly as it's defo not in the script?!

But of course the beeb has the last laugh. You just know its vintage comedy gold when that theme kicks in :/ no contest.

Jaysus I was expecting a bit of anti-MBB sentiment but I'm genuinely shocked by the extent of it, personally I prefer Father Ted but I think it's definitely debate-worthy given MBB's recent success. I wonder are people's opinions a bit clouded by the fact that Brendan O'Carroll comes across as a bit of a clown at times......clearly it appeals to the possibly more neutral British audiences.

Hardly takes a genius to prefer Father Ted over MBB in fairness.

There's nothing to compare between the two.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

This needs a poll to find out which is better? Seriously?

It has nothing go do with O'Carroll. It's ****e.

I watched a few episodes and didn't come close to laughing once.

I do plan on watching a couple of episodes with people who actually find it funny as I'm interested to see when they laugh, as I've no idea which bits are meant to be funny.

I'm no good at judging the size of crowds Ted, but I'd say there's about 17 million of them out there.

The question isn't which show is better, it's 'what the feck is wrong with English people'

Personally I think there is a connection between the success of the two worst sitcoms ever written. NI's 'give my head peace' and Mrs Brown's boys. Both shows are racist against irish people

I think it has more to do with Irish people being able to relate to every single Father Ted character. Whereas MBB is old gags in a new format.

The British may like it due to the cross dressing of BOC. Caberet is still popular in England and they're fond of it on tv also ( Lily Savage and Co spring to mind)

Preference might imply that mrs bb was even considered

Might make for good couchtime to some disenfranchised taximan and his missus but I think that was more of a statement from him as to how mundane a life he has settled for.

While Father Ted is the runaway winner here, if we did this poll in another fifteen years would it be the same?

I hope so. I mean, that's the thing about MBB, it's all very vague and nobody really knows what it's about.

Two great Irish comedies in their own right, Father Ted was completely original and groundbreaking at the time but looking at back at it now it feels like the gags became repetitive as the series went on.

Mrs Brown's Boys is seems to be underrated here in Ireland, I'll no doubt get dog's abuse from the Father Ted fanatics but given the recent phenomenal success of MBB I think it's a touch and go as to which of these two is the greatest Irish comedy series. What say ye?
I cant believe this is even a genuine question
