MOD POST: Folks I am as guilty as any of you on this, but we are really going to have to keep the HMV chat in the thread to news of happenings at local level, with a source of course, and use the HMV threads in After Hours or Consumer Issues for the more generic stuff.

Is there currently no place in Limerick selling CDs apart from Tesco then?

Now that HMV is closed (temporarily) all I can think of is Tesco or Dunnes in the city centre.

Seems savins might need to revisit their shop offering.

There's definitely still a market for a decent CD shop. The older generation still prefer CDs, and alot of cars only have CD players. Seems a step backwards to have to download an album and burn it onto a CD. Obviously there's Amazon but I reckon a lot of people still prefer the idea of buying something in a shop rather than ordering it online.

Ahhhh now, CDs, older generation, I'm only 35 not f**king 85, CDs were invented in my lifetime.

    Clicks vs Bricks..

Sad to see a City the size of Limerick without a record store.

I'm as guilty (if you want to use that term!).. I buy from Amazon & EBay a lot but I would have still spent a good chunk of change in HMV also.
20 yrs ago we had GOlden Discs. Empire Tonys Music Scene. Clancys Easons Savins Todds plus a couple more.

Half of the Pamela Scott stores in Ireland, including the two in Limerick, went into examinership.

Fingers crossed that itdoes not result in Limerick losing more jobs.

They have a fine store on Bedford Row, it'd be a shame to see it empty.

    BlackTie going into liquidation

I was in the 2 weeks ago or so and although the guy was also extremely helpful I guess that's not enough. Good thing I didn't give any deposit. They will likely be clearing out their large warehouse soon enough. Could pick up those wedding suits when they do it.

Ordered with Blacktie and paid a small deposit - looks like I will be going elsewhere unless they find a buyer. Connollys dont have a great range, is there anywhere else that does wedding suit hire?

As an alternative to any of the others in town. I got my Remus suit in there for €149 and other places said there way no way I could get it for that price. There was a small thread issue with it and it was sorted without issue and I will definitely go back. Problem is I need four identical suits for a wedding. Can be an issue with small places as generally what they have is what they have.

We had a wedding in the family last year and got the suits in Club Daingan (sp?) in Ennis. Reasonably priced and were all Magee suits. Top class, and worth a try if you can go to Ennis.

And he is cheap. Think it was 35 euro a few months ago for a suit hire. And he is very lax on how long you keep it for too. Once had a suit from him for more than a week.

Shame to hear that Nibanna in Foxes Box is closing soon. I picked up some really cool Iron Fist hoodies and T-shirts in there. I also love the smell of incence as u walk into the shop. The owner and his wife are really sound as well.
Looks like I'll either have to either go online or visit Mr. Moore in the market on Saturday for my Grim Reaper/ Skull themed hoodies and sweaters in future.

A really nice shop and a lovely couple in charge, its a shame if it does close but as i said to him in the first week he was open, he was very brave to try and open a shop like that in this day and age.
