Any way to make money out of scrapping a car

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, apologies if not.

I've an 02 Punto that will not probably not pass its NCT next month. It had a bump in the front of it and something is bent that is too expensive to repair. I'm not very car technical.

It's subjective though. It'll fail going through the NCT with one examiner and pass with another. Last year it failed on 3 things. 2 were simple and one was the problem above. I fixed the 2 simple things and sent it through again and it passed.

I just had my test this weekend and it only failed on the problem above. I'm not going to bother sending it through again and will replace it.

So if I'm scrapping the car is there any way to scrap it while making some money from it. It's running fine and apart from the issue above has no problems. Are the signs I see up around the streets saying (we buy any car) worth looking at or are there better options that anybody might know of.

The best way to make money from it is to break it yourself and sell the parts seperately. The downside to this is that you need the space to store it while breaking it, you could potentially have time wasters coming to your door and you then have to dispose of the remaining shell. Those cash for cars places will give you next to nothing for it.

i got €150 each for my two Fiestas recently..one in a state but running and the other with a blown engine but with NCT. You should be able to realize this for most cars.

im gonna be scrapping my 95 astra soon, just wondering if there are any parts I should take out of it before going to the scrap yard, i have a 2002 ford focus now, anything i could take from the astra that could be used in the focus? the heat resister is gone in the focus, would the heat resister in the astra be used in the focus? also would the scrap yard people care if the car is a little scrapped or do they just want the car for the metal?

they would want to sell bits off it themselves, so you might get a lesser value from them if they were missing.

Very little from an Astra will suit a focus.

save yourself hastle, just donedeal it!

not sure what to do with the car, it failed the nct on minor things, was gonna strip certain things from it like the tyres are only a month old, theres a sound system and bucket seats etc..
