I was really proud that I got up so early to go to the gym, which is 20 minutes walk away. But it's raining so much :-( *Emigrates*

I really want to start going to the gym this semester, starting to feel like a tubs! But I haven't a clue where to start or what to do if I do go down there, and I'm afraid I'll look stupid since I'm a complete and utter gym noob.:(:(

    Such a horrible day.:(

Started off with my bag flying from the seat of the bus when the driver pulled off at speed. Doesn't sound too bad, but my laptop was in the bag, and it took an hour to get it sorted when I got to college cos I had to back up all my information (which involved buying a new memory stick cos I'd forgotten mine at home:mad:) and then restore it to an earlier state. It took ages, and I missed my first lecture at 12 because of it.

I then discovered that I'd forgotten the course booklet with all the really specific referencing and citing information so I had to go and get another one of those, which involved an awkward conversation with a lecturer cos the office was closed at the time.

And then, I went to print off an essay that was due at 4, fifteen minutes before the deadline and the printer wouldn't work. It came up "no print jobs available for...":mad::mad: And there were massive queues at the printers on the other floors for some weird reason so I ended up just legging it to the department and explaining what happened hoping they would leave me off cos I blatantly had the thing fully done. I'd submitted it online ages before that.

So relieved that they accepted my excuse. I was right on the edge of panicking over all the crap that was happening.

    Emotionally drained now.:(

I have an exam tomorrow and the day after. Haven't a notion of the material for the Thursday exam because I missed a lot of time due to illness and it's utterly impossible to prepare for. FFS

What topic were they discussing tonight? Or is it a continuation of the situation that happened a few nights ago?

Just watched the R. Budd Dwyer clip as part of a piece on desenitisation to violence... it made me fell physically sick.

One the most horrific things online. There's never that much blood shown in movies or tv shows. It's fascinating though, the calmness of Dwyer as he hands out the envelopes before hand, just resigned to his fate.

Personally, I think desensitisation to stupidity (no serious offense meant!) is a much worse problem in society at present. I've never watched that R. Budd Dwyer clip, because I've read about it. If someone said to you "Would you like to see a real human being shoot himself in the face in real life?", why would you think that was a good idea?

A society that finds violence, whether it be in a video-game or in a film, more acceptable than in previous eras isn't the social epidemic people are making it out to be, because it's not real. All the actors in Django Unchained are okay (although I heard Christopher Waltz fell off a horse during filming)!

What we cannot afford to turn our backs on are the real consequences of real violence. And that starts by confronting the people that propagate real violence. For example, I find it tremendously irksome that so much focus on the recent shootings in America has been this idea of "desensitisation to violence" amongst young people. What about the desensitisation to mental health issues and treatment perpetuated by government policies? What about generation after generation of American/British etc. soldiers fighting in overseas wars? Are they less desensitised than modern Call of Duty players, pixels on a screen? Or how about President Obama, who was genuinely torn up about those children and wants strong measures put in place on gun control- but has green-lit more drone strikes in foreign lands than any other president (drones which kill real people, using computer interface controls)! Warfare is an industry funded by the same governments that cut all these corners and focus on symptoms of a problem rather than the roots of it.

Sorry to rant, but Christ on a bicycle, the hypocrisy of the people pressing these issues (I'm not referring to any of you guys) is often mind-blowing! DON'T WORRY, I DON'T MEAN THAT LITERALLY, JUST IN CASE YOU GUYS THINK I'M CONDONING VIOLENCE.

Why lecturers feel the need to cancel lectures and then put them back on without informing anyone is beyond me.

Trivial arrgh #3215: healthy snack let-down.

Had a bowl of fruit and everything went pear shaped. The apple was cut into slices, and I realised mid-bite that they contained a suspicious taste-trace of onion. Nasty. Like cows and horses, they shouldn't mix. I attributed this phenomenon to insufficient cleaning of the cutting knife, ignored the omen and continued on with my fruit bonanza. Next up was a tangerine, which I started peeling with my usual grace and enthusiasm only for a drop of citrus to squirt right into my eye. It stung, a lot, as evinced by the embarrassingly loud and high-pitched yelp of pain/confusion/fury I let out. Then when I was about to have my delicious revenge (which consisted of eating it), I bit into a pip. It wasn't going to get any better with a plum which proved to be a typical plum: sticky and unsatisfying (<insert sex/masturbation gone wrong joke here>). Way to ruin my day, fruit.

    tl;dr fruit < junk food
    or
    tl;dr I'm fecked once I experience a proper arrgh

Has Zhivago gone yet? They seemed to be in liquidation for years. Bell Book and Candle sell CDs, mostly independent stuff though.

Still in 'liquidation'. Don't sell the music I listen to though. Damn my indie/alt/country stuff.

Why does Ireland not have any sort of country music. I've just spent my time going through Spotify...seriously. No Jason Aldean, limited Rascal Flatts, limited The Band Perry, limited or no most other country bands I like. Ugh. I know it's only Ireland based cause I mentioned it to a friend in the states, who replied "I'm listening to the latest Eric Church single now". UGH.

I hate being penalised for wanting to actually pay for music and living in Ireland.

Country music seems to be relatively prominent in Donegal; I've spent most of my life cursing it. As for wanting to reward artists with money and using Spotify, the two aren't really compatible. Spotify pay out only a pittance in royalties, so the likes of Amazon/the band's website/iTunes, etc. might yield better results and ensure your money has more of a direct impact.
