From reading some of his quotes over the last year I got the impression he was next, problem is with his two injuries he's a gamble and TBH I think Arsenal is the highest level he will go.

In fariness to him I thought yesterday was a big improvement on recent games.

Yeah, looked a lot more like his old self.

Sagna used to provide a great attacking option down the right side but of late he seems content to turn back and pass to the keeper or a central defender. I think this is because he has no RVP to aim for. Theo is a poor central attacker, unable to compete for the high ball or to hold it up. He is a one-trick pony, just kick it past them and run and that will not work against speedy, powerful and brainy defenders like the top teams possess. He was anonymous yesterday and posed no threat. Sagna knows that. Why would he put crosses into Theo as he wouldn't have a hope of getting them?

Yeah sagna doesn't give a toss anymore

Well I think it's more the fact he's been expected to play the entire right hand side of the field by himself in the last few games have made him look worse.

He'll be out the door soon I reckon, not because he's not able to still contribute to the team, but because he's been vocal against Wenger this season selling our best players constantly.

Sagna is the last person we should be pushing out the door, best RB in the league for me and (small recent blip aside) Mr. Dependable.

The thing with Theo is that he will work great up front with teams that like to play a high line like Newcastle. But he ain't worth diddly squat against teams that play a little deeper as he isn't great at holding up play in these cases and would be much better suited on the wing instead.
He is good enough to play every game for us but it should rotate between the wing and up front.

No offence but Sagna hasn't been the best RB in the league for a few years. Zabaleta hardly gets a mention but he is a solid defender, good at going forward and chips in with the odd goal.

Also Rafael is getting better and better and even though he was at fault for Liverpool's goal, he has matured a lot this season and really come into his own.

I'm fully aware that you said best RB for you but he's not the same Sagna as he was and if he was to go I can't see it being a huge loss to Arsenal

    I'm absolutely disillusioned.

This Arsenal team lacks quality in so many places.

I'm a huge fan of Zabaleta but I'd still have Sagna ahead of him. Zabaleta gets extra points for his ability to play pretty much anywhere though.

I'm not saying he's been the best RB this year, but imo, he's been the best in the league for the last 4/5 years, the only one to come close to him was when Ivanovic had that one decent season.

Now he probably won't be this year, or next year as I reckon Rafael will lock that position down now, but he's still a long way ahead of Jenkinson.

I'd agree, plus as Frisbee mentioned above in effect our fullbacks are being asked to play the full left/right sides.
The 3 CMs stay central and Podolski/Oxo are being asked to play as cover for right/left back and front support beside Theo/Giroud. Thats just to much to asked of the FBs and the R/L forwards.

He seen Demo going to the back post for the second goal and never bothered his hole following him. He doesn't give a toss anymore and it shows in his level of commitment. I'd have jenkinson ahead of him till he bucks up.

jenkinson should never have been taken out when sagna came back he was playing very well and can get up and down the line all day..

Sagna is just getting back to his best. Even when he wasn't he was streets ahead of Jenkinson who is still learning the game. Wenger made absolutely the right call on this one, despite some poor displays by Bacary (in particular the recent Swansea game)

People like to slap their own narrative onto everything. Sagna was great yesterday for the most part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭MaxPower89

Sagna was excellent yesterday I thought, but in the final third he doesn't offer much, crossing is poor and doesn't really link up with the forwards/midfielders and drive in towards goal like Gibbs does. Sagna's crosses are big high loopers from generally close to the sideline, little of the type we saw Evra deliver for United's 1st, a low across the ground for RVP. He is still better than Jenkinson though, who despite having a good engine, has much to learn.

Not keeping Sagna would be another blow imo, just another experienced player that we can't afford to lose.

I think Giroud has to start all games possible from now on, the ball doesn't stick with Theo by and large. We can crib about the ref yesterday but it's our own fault we were under so much pressure early doors. City could push up then and really harry us.

Just can't see us getting 4th without some new recruits.

Its pretty pointless slipping Sagna in down the flanks to cross a ball when he's ony got Walcott to aim for.

Podolski was just awful mate, delighted he was reefed off just after 55 minutes.

Ramsey barely done anything he was hardly great in fairness. Diaby was rubbish should have been hauled off at HT.

I have been Ramsey's biggest critics of late but thought he was very good when he came on, either kept the ball moving or won a free every time he got possession
Rvp has played the probably near enough the same amount of games,so surely tiredness isn't an excuse.

RVP has been rotated a little more, plus playing up front and playing in the engine room in a new league are two entirely different scenarios if you want to do a meaningfull comparrison look at how Benitez has handled Hazard.

What on earth has happened to Kos this year? Was he not excellent last year?

The "striker" Wally was appalling, and has been quiet for a few games. Its annoying that the media harp on about him wanting to play up front, which he has done for a string of games and has been poor in the majority of them.

Vermaelan is the weaklink tbh, but seems to be immune from criticism, very little doubt in my mind that Kos/Mert is the partnership we should be going with.

Walcott was not appalling, he was ineffective due to a lack of supply, and he has been poor twice not the majority of games, seriously Gooners love the hyperbole

Seen this video online. Warning there is some bad language in it. Its of Nasri and Chamakh walking to the match yesterday. Im not condoning the fans in this video but it beggars belief why Nasri would walk to the stadium to that match of all matches

So whats wrong with walking to the stadium? and u wonder why players and celebs avoid the public.

shocking. absolutely stupid from those idiot fans. disgrace in a whole new level and absolutely nothing wrong with walking to the stadium. its a free country. maybe chamack and nasri just wanted to chill and walk to the stadium instead of being guarded by 20 henchmens locked in a cage.

    These are human beings.

There was a bomb scare before the game and a lot of roads were closed. The City team even had to walk the last bit as their coach couldn't get through if I heard right.

Yeah I just heard because of the bomb scare that a lot of roads were closed nearby the stadium. Yeah I agree with you that celebs should be able to go and walk wherever they like but there will always be idiots or mindless thugs out to get them, so its not always adviseable.

When we play Manchester Utd at home in April would you think its a good idea if RVP was to walk to the stadium? I certainly wouldnt advise him to.

didnt stop him from being sh!te though did it. was partly at fault for both goals. didnt make much of an effort to get out to tevez for the first and was very weak against zabaleta for the second.

verm is poor but koscielny looks every bit a ligue 2 player anytime ive seen him this season. two dodgy centre halves.

Walcott was not appalling, he was ineffective due to a lack of supply, and he has been poor twice not the majority of games, seriously Gooners love the hyperbole

not really hyperbole - a decent amount of ball came to walcott yesterday but none of it stuck to him. kompany had him in his pocket. no matter how much ball theo gets hell always be ineffective when he comes up against top defenders IMO

he did do well with that chance he got in the second half though that got cleared off the line it was proof that he can finish if given the opportunity but the rest of his game isnt up to scratch. whats the point in having a lone froward that cant win his own ball?

That video is cringe altogether. Im embarrassed for those moronic chavs.
Much and all as I dislike Nasri I dont like to see that kind of behaviour from our "fans". Chamakh certainly doesnt deserve any abuse from Arsenal supporters either

Arsenal really have some Muppet fans going to the home games, the booing of eboue sticks out for me.

Sky saying we are in for Zaha though he has the choice of United too. What's the betting that if Arsene does actually buy, it won't be what we need.

a **** player as well. why diddnt we show this much effort with rvp, nasri, song etc?

I wouldnt mind being as **** as Walcott :pac:

Don't agree with that. We really need a good strong winger who can actually
    beat people.

If you look at our players on the wing. We are quite short.

Walcott = Good on the wing.

Ox = Good but needs more time.

Podolski = Being wasted on the wing and should be upfront.

    Gervinho = Well em... yeah

I think a big Physical player like Zaha is one of many players we need.

Is Zaha a left or right winger?
