Doesn't look the same without Mertesacker beside him.

As for Podolski, he's not a chaser-back so stop exposing Gibbs so much and put him up top, I just don't get the problem.

The other match today was a perfect example of Fergie's tactics of the last few years working for Liverpool. Instead of stocking up on midfielders just lob on a load of forwards. Sometimes it means conceding midfield but who cares? Liverpool towards the end had Sturridge, Suarez and Borini on and got more possession than when they had what should be a better team for holding the ball earlier in the match. We have one proper forward in the squad, ridiculous.

we do need strengthening up front but didn't Spain win the Euros without any forwards for half the matches. ?

    Yes they did.

But we don't have Spain's ability in Midfield or Defence.

Yes of course but the point I was making is that there are many ways to skin a cat. The crucial thing is to improve the quality, in whatever the position

How Theo was allowed play as the lone striker for so long is beyond me, every time the ball went into the City half in the first half it came straight back on top of us. There was one stage where twice in a row we won the ball back with a throw/kickout and by the time the replay had finished City had laready won the ball back off us and were attacking again. Giroud should have been brough on long before he was.

Also thought Ramsey did quite well when he came on. Mad that playing a central midfielder in central midfield instead of on the wing gets better performances out of him eh?

and this sh!te of giving him deadball duties has to end. every time i see him step up to a free kick i cringe.

the players tried today anyway thats a plus at least. the quality just isnt there though. the atmosphere in the stadium was excellent too - its been a while since its been so loud long may it continue

Am I in the wrong thread or something? We lost but there are no calls for Wenger to resign and the entire team to be sold? :pac:

No, today it was definitely the refs fault. Lose to Chelsea next week then it will be business as usual ..... Wenger out etc :D

If we dont sign some players we wont get 4th simple as. Mind you the 4th place trophy means nothing to me when we dont spend the money we earn by getting 4th. Players might leave, they do anyway. Nothing will be as bad as Van Persie at united this year which Wenger let happen. Except if he lets Wilshere go to United which he probably will if Wenger is still in charge in a few years.

Can see him wrecking himself at this rate.

    That, or be sold.

Today wasnt the referees fault. It was a blatant penalty anyone disputing that is in the clouds. A red card was very harsh but I've seen them given. Kompanys was a harsh red card.

Even Wenger agreed with those decisions so how anyone can blame the ref is baffling, the team wasnt good enough on the day. We've become acustomed to failure at this club results like this and last week at Swansea are deemed good enough by some it seems.

He can be blamed for the rubbish red card decision and also the bull**** decision for the free in the build up to the first goal. We donea lot wrong today but they were definitely Dean's fault.

It was a stupid mistake by Kosser and thats that, Plus we played the worst all season then for the next 15-20 mins in which City could have been further ahead it seemed the reshuffle confused the **** out of the whole team

It's easier to take when the team were beaten by the league champions after being reduced to ten men and fought on like they actually gave a damn. The Southampton match was much worse. Nobody looked like they gave a toss.

Has Walcott ever scored from a free kick?

I think there was one that went in via a deflection and that was it?!

Why is Carzola not the free kick taker? He can clearly strike the ball well and has much better ability than Walcott.

Wenger only thinks we have two players for every position because of all the players he plays out of position.

He scored one in the promotional video for the home jersey back in August...

I'm usually the most positive of fans
But the thought of wenger not going into the market this month is depressing me

TBH I think a lot of what is going on is to rub Theo's ego, the corner and free kick taking, the playing through the centre. Once the contract is signed I think we'll see a gradual change back to normal with Theo out right maybe playing a few games through the middle against the smaller teams.

Disapointing a club of our size would jeopardise the team for the sake of one players future, one player who isnt deemed key.

Striking the ball dead and striking the ball on the move are very different, has he ever shown he can take free kicks at any of his previous clubs?

Can't dig it up right now but he scored an absolute cracker v Real Madrid last season.

a **** player as well. why diddnt we show this much effort with rvp, nasri, song etc?

Sorry but what was that penalty all about? i saw nothing. was shocked Kos got sent off as to me and the other 59k fans it was not a pen nevermind a sending off. what a ****ing joke the ref is.

he ruined the game big time. the 1st goal city scored was a joke. that was never a free kick! but arsenal were switched off and wasnt prepared so 1:0 down with a man down. game over really.
I'm sorry Jonney but it was a penalty and it was a sending off. No ifs buts or ands about it.
It was also a free kick in the lead up to the City goal.
Arsenal can't blame the ref for yesterday. Them players need to buck up big time. I really fear they'll finish outside the top 4 this season.

Ah he aint sh*t he's just not top class but her serves a use and I think still has potential to get better.

His financial demands arent as high as RVP, Nasri and Song would have demanded from the club.

Kinda hoping keeping Walcott is the turning of the corner, with the exception of Sagna we seem to have a strong base of players willing to remain at the club, the key step now is how the club adds to this, we dont need fringe players we need high quality to challenge the current first team and push some of that out to the bench and squad.

From reading some of his quotes over the last year I got the impression he was next, problem is with his two injuries he's a gamble and TBH I think Arsenal is the highest level he will go.

In fariness to him I thought yesterday was a big improvement on recent games.
