I was concerned after I went in the other week and everything was half price.

    A real shame.

Damn. I didn't see that coming. Shame. Another empty shop in the town centre.

Indeed... Castle Street is becoming more bare by the day!

That's a real shame. I wondered when I saw the back bit closed off a few weeks before Christmas.

Took this with my fone this afternoon. The note on the window is a message saying that they had to close down due to the recession.

The only thing we'll have left are the banks, whom we own of course. Yet they continue to suck the life out of small business and us poor unfortunate taxpayers.

Marys of Donegal also closing, if not already. So could be all their stores being affected, believe they have a few around the west/northwest.

I was told recently that they are renovating the big shop down the street from Mary's (was Castle Interiors or Meldrums I think) for a Dealz franchise to go in there. They might have got wind of this or more likely the Euro Store in Johnstons Court and the similar shop at the top of O'Connell Street has taken quite a bit of their trade.

I think the whole Mary's group is gone, not just Sligo.

Dealz is a great shop. I was wondering what was going to be in there.

I heard another rumour that Penneys was going in there, while they're doing renovations in their store on O Connell Street.

My OH tells me that there is a well known 'Music Store' brand in Germany. I certainly never saw this in Sligo though, the pictures and some of the amateurish wording on the website are making me think it's not real?
The Sligo Music Store is an instrument supplier store and a meeting place for musicians. The store is owned and run by Joe Blogs. It is a new shop which has the lowest prices on music equipment.

Ditto on above. Have no recollection of there being an instrument store on wine st. Did you call the number on the website?

Maybe it's supposed to be the spot above the Record Room?

Yeah tried the number, it didn't ring. I sent an email there now. Strange wondering if it's a scam website what there is to gain as you can't buy anything on it.

Past Market Cross, so Grattan Street.

Website looks like a demo or proof of concept (lots of placeholders and non working link).. wouldn't think much more of it.

Domain is registered to a Barry O Shaughnessy.. it could be the same one who runs BOS Media in Galway.

Very likely to, but not a definite.

Sad to see it go - both for staff and competition (as Gamestop and Xtra-Vision are far more expensive IMO).

Even if they (unlikely) come out of administration or find another buyer, their decision to reject vouchers will hurt them.

Bad form not accepting vouchers, especially so close after Christmas. I'm sure there are thousands of people with HMV vouchers nationwide
