I recently found out that Silverback gorillas are named that cos they have silver coloured fur on their backs!

That Uncle Phil in Fresh Prince does the voice of Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I've been a member of boards for nearly 6 years. This is, quite probably, the best thing I've ever learned!

What do you mean, like Mr. Silverback? Seamus O' Silverback. That kind of thing? :pac:

I only copped on when I was 19 or 20 that when you look at yourself in the mirror, you're not seeing what everyone else sees. Sounds stupid, I mean I knew mirrors were reverse image and all that, but it never occured to me before then that my side-fringe was really on the opposite side to the one I thought it was on... :o

    Is whoopsy about to realize that 12 - 7 = 5? :P

oh my GOD, I wasn't alone!! :pac: I dont know how I didnt realize from pictures...I used to get my fringe cut to the side I liked to see it in the mirror, not realizing it didnt look like that to everyone else. I also love languages...maybe you're my long lost twin. :D

When I was a child, I though there was no colour years ago, that everything was in black and white.

In my defense this was pre-youtube days and I didn't have ready access to the internet.
First time I heard 'Fast Car' I thought it was a white guy.

You don't need to type www. before many well known websites. Boards is one

I spent years and years typing www. every time

Only copped on this year and was treated like a fool by someone I told
I recently discovered that you can carelessly type nearly anything that resembles 'google.com' and it'll work. Fool-proof internetting right there!

    Examples:
    gogle.com
    gooogle.com
    gogole.com
    googl.com
    googel.com

    Probably more.

EDIT - reading other's posts, maybe I just developed a fantastic new joke!! :pac: :pac:

Lightbulb moment here... while I was racking my brains to understand it (I'm 36) I figured it could also mean "to annoy the opposition".

I only realised very recently that this logo (for Carrefour supermarkets) was a capital C.

In my defence, the white bit is usually just empty space on the physical signs.

Muslim authorities giving 2 fingers to antiquity and anyone and everyone else. That's what the Mum is for. I call it Bombay.

    What Muslim authorities ??

It was Bal Thackeray, leader of the right-wing/xenophic Hindu/Marathi Shiv Sena party who had the name changed to Mumbai. He was no friend of the Muslims.

Also most of the major Indian cities had their names changed during the latter decades of the 20th century.

I only figured out a few years ago that t-shirts are so called because they're shaped like the letter "t."

I also only discovered relatively recently that the arrow in the Amazon logo is meant to be a smile.

And I just realised the Amazon logo has an arrow pointing from A to Z, suggesting they have everything!

Ah ffs, I'm French and never realised !

I think I've a problem with seeing all these "negative" images.
For years and years and years, all I saw in the Batman logo was an epiglottis and tonsils. I swear even now, I have to do mind gymnastics to see the logo properly, what I first look at is the bloody epiglottis. (in fact, are we all supposed to see an epiglottis ? maybe that's something I hadn't realised ?)

I've no problem switching from one language to the other, but complicated images are lost on me.

edit : just looked at it again, I'll grant you it's a very square and shrivelled epiglottis, and enlarged tonsils :P

In the same vein as mountainsandh, I see the 7up logo as this weird symbol. I never realized it's like 7.UP until I was...8? So now I see both. My mind was blown when I realized! :o

edit: just noticed I didnt realize that til I was over 7...7up :D :P

That Harristown Courthouse is the district court for Castlrea prison - I had always wondered why it seemed to be such a violent place and why I had never heard of it otherwise.
