If Spurs drop points today we could be within spitting distance on 6th.

Just finish watching Sunderland vs Man City Match. From what I've seen, just continues to affirm my admiration for Danny Rose and Sessegnon.

I wouldn't mind those 2 wearing the Red of Liverpool.

For anyone in the know, how much do you think these 2 will cost us, say in the summer?

Danny Rose is a Spurs player so slim chance of that.

We really dont need Danny Rose...at all. We have loads of cover for RB. And isnt he on loan from Spurs?

Sessegnon is arguably Sunderlands best player so they would probably be looking for 12+ million. Dont think we really need him either :S

Sessengon had a poor season up until his goal a few weeks back. Seems to have kicked on a bit since then, but I still don't see him fitting in with our team. Nor do I want him really for the price we would have to pay.

Rose is a good up and coming left back, but Spurs wouldn't sell us a virus. Not really a priority at the moment either for me.

Sessengon was very good last year, always cropping up at the right place at the right time. He's been well below that standard until the last 3-4 weeks but in games lately he's been going well

Spurs would buy Rose again before we got near him.

Was it not Rose that Sterling made a mockery out of when we played Sunderland?

Twitter says we're unchanged from the Fulham game.

Danny Rose is a Left Back. A position, which is causing us quite a few headaches, since we don't have proper cover. It's one of the reasons why we have to play Downing there. It's definitely something we need to sort out in the summer.

I know Danny Rose is on loan from Spurs, I just mentioned him, cause he fits the proper criteria for us. Young, loads of energy, makes good decisions and composed when defending. Not to mention, he's probably one of Sunderland's Best Players this Season.

I would also take a punt on Sessegnon, if we could get him below 10 Mil. I think he would be good for us, as a Second Striker. Or the link between our Midfields and Forwards as our No. 10.

Weimann from Aston Villa is another I wouldn't mind.

Fairly certain he was unfit or just back from injury at the start of the season, has struggled to get up to speed and find form but seems to be improving week on week.

Tidy player, would do well with Suarez I think

Yup, I'm of the same opinion.

Holds the ball really well and is strong for his size. Can create his own space. Excellent in link-ups. He shows determination to get back in defense and then he eagerly springs back for offense. Got some really Great Engine inside of him

There were several instances in the game, where he deftly controls the ball while shrugging off challenges from 1 or 2 Man City Players like Kompany and Yaya Toure, who we all know are Behemoths in the game. And yet he's turning them or leaving them, while calmly initiating their attack.

In that way, he actually reminds me of our own Fiery Little Suarez. They have the same indomitable hunger, the same fierceness. Who through Sheer Force of their Wills, wants to Win Games.

    Embarassing :(

    Heres to the new year.

Our defence has now been beaten up this year by Carlton Cole and Kenwyne Jones.

    Not on.

Rodgers really needs to hold of the defence

    And Aston Villa

The Villa result looks worse by the game!

As for Rodgers he really has to start to question himself, how can anyone talk about control when picking a player week in week out for whom control is pretty much an anathema?

Are we allowed say Rodgers is doing a really **** job yet? Or will those who point out the obvious continue to be attacked?

I think its starting to look fair saying to say yes ............... I honestly though december was the month where we would get a fair few points in the league. I am very disappointed.

But i will give the man time, lets see what janurary brings etc......

He hasn't started as well as one would have liked. I can see him improving the team given time though. If you wanted a manager to come in and get a short-term Red Bullesque kick, you should have gone for MON and ended up like Sunderland and Villa.

Well, when you're limited to fielding players like Shelvey, Suso and Downing, you have to feel sympathy for the guy. Needs to be supported in the next couple of transfer windows.

Surely it's sufficient to expect that someone can come in, get the best out of what's currently there, while also building & improving the club in the long term. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

If Rodgers is unable to get the best out of the resources currently at his disposal & we have dis-improved since his arrival, what would indicate that he would be the right man long term to get the best out of the team & improve the standing of the club?

The greatest barometer that we should get rid now is you supporting him.

Only 1 of the 5 players he has signed has made the match day squad today. On the bench.

    Stop trotting out excuses.

I don't know what is worse.

Rivals slagging off this shït or our own supporters defending it.

Rodgers is fooked and he is starting to realise it imo.

Sooner the better for all concerned that he and the current owners move the fück on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,708 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

the defence has become a shambles. and it's not all the fault of the CBs.

we're too passive too often, and our midfield is too easily bypassed...especially on the counter.

Stoke away isn't the sole barometer, it's becoming an all too familiar pattern.

that's not to do with our limited attacking options, so a lack of backed transfer windows can't be used much as an excuse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

The simple fact is that in my opinion we've dis-improved significantly on last season.

I've no faith left. I didn't even make it past the first part of that long interview he gave last week before turning it off. He was asked a few questions which he completely bull****ted or sidestepped. I fully admit now I think I was wrong about him and I now think he's a complete bull****ter. I don't like him, results are awful and I just don't think he's not up to the job. We can talk all day about the changing philosophy and how long it takes but he shows no tactical acumen to make me believe. Even the substitutions of Allen and Sterling last week were very strange. The results are disgraceful for the players at his disposal.
