Imperial Guard Snipers

    Can anybody explain how imperial guard snipers work cause I'm rather confused and nobody else collects guard so nobody knows their rules. As far as I know their part of a special weapons squad (I think) but can i use them as individual pieces or do they have to be kept together like a squad?

    Any particular codex? Do you mean normal guard with sniper rifle upgrades, or ratlings?

    the current codex (6th i think, haven't played in a while). They're normal guards with sniper-rifles, couldn't find rathlings and think someone mentioned they'd be better!!

    The snipers are part of the 6 man special weapons squad, where up to three may have sniper rifles. They're part of the unit and not independent.

    Would I be allowed have 6 snipers so? Would I be better having a rathling squad? they may look ridiculous but if their better they'd be worth it!

    No, there's a max of three special weapons, so there can't be 6 snipers. Ratlings can go from 3 to 10 snipers in total though.

    You can still add the fourth to an infantry squad, since they can take one sniper.

    You could always proxy them as rattilings as well. Its what id do. I hate the rattiling models!

    Thats actually a good idea, I want snipers but hate the rattilings too!! I'm gonna steal your idea and pretend it was my own :p

    Turns out my brother read this trend before I took credit...the truth is out there:D But ya I think the guardsmen snipers look good, they really should use these models as a replacement for the rats!! Then again I suppose some people must like them.
