Started getting into replaying GTA 3 last night. Does anyone else feel compelled when they're playing these games to complete things like finding the hidden packages and doing the paramedic missions straight away purely because of how difficult these become once the various gangs start shooting at you?

I think I've only ever completed the paramedic missions once as well.

I think I completed them all in GTA3 and Vice City, but not after that, and not straight away. I agree, it's probably something you should do as early as possible, but at the same time, it can be a slog to get through, especially when you know there are missions waiting for you. The games are still manageable without having to do them, and in most of the games there's not a lot to spend your money on anyway, so I don't mind buying ammo and armour.

Wish I'd done the firefighter ones in San Andreas before that final mission. Would have made that a sh*t-tonne easier

You can do them later but there's one hidden item in particular which is difficult to do later (the one on the roof of the petrol station where you've got to walk up and along the narrow wall to get to it). It's a pain normally but is really difficult when you've got the mafia aiming their shotguns at you.

I always found the first island to be the easiest one for the paramedic missions, but again the ambulance doesn't last long if you've got people firing their shotguns at it.

I remember that I did do the firefighter mission in San Andreas and the final mission was easier for it. That was actually straight forward if you did it in and around the little towns between Los Santos & San Fierro.

I always do the first five or six missions to get a feel of things then go and do all the extras. IV didnt have as much but in the previous games I did as much as I could at the start. In San Andreas, leave the paramedic until you get to that small town on the bottom left of the map. It has a hospital so you just need to find an ambulance and it is simple. Everything else do in Los Santos. It's too easy to take a wrong turn and end up miles away in the other cities.

III and VC I did as much as I could after two or three missions. Got loads of money and guns and everything :D

I always just go straight into the missions and leave everything else until afterwards.

I cant do that in any game.

Even in Red Dead Redemption I got 100% as soon as I
killed Agent Ross in the stranger mission, literally the end of the storyline.
Hope to do it again in GTA V

Got SA from the ps store. Only got to play for 10 mins or so, instantly more fun than GTA IV. The first mission I was cycling a bike, being chased by some punk ass ballas shooting at me while jumping off bridges and through alleyways. Can't wait to get a proper go at it

Someone on one of the PS blogs last week said that Vice City has been delayed because of issues getting the Michael Jackson songs re-licensed.

What a stupid reason to delay the game. THe could just leave out the songs.

They could do but they don't want to leave out the songs as they're some of the more iconic songs on an iconic soundtrack.

Personally I'd rather the game be delayed for a couple of months and those be included.

Is GTA:SA worth buying on PSN? Is it still as fun as it was back in the day? Do the graphics look that bad?

    Opinions would be appreciated thanks!

I was moaning earlier in the thread about how bad it looks, but after a while you get used to it. And yeah, it's still pretty good fun to play. All in all I'd say it's worth downloading.

It does look dated but you kind of get used to that after a while. My biggest issue with replaying SA a couple of years ago, and why I ultimately abandoned that attempt, was the controls. They're just so awkward and clumsy and they feel more dated than even the graphics.

There's a mission about half way through Los Santos where you have to climb a fence and then shoot some guards down near a warehouse and I just couldn't think through the controls quickly enough to stop myself dying every time I tried. Nothing about how the game handles feels natural.

That said I'm going to move onto SA straight after my current play through GTA 3 so I'm hoping the controls will feel a bit more natural this time.

If you can get past his the game looks and how it controls then it's still one of the biggest and best games ever made.

Graphics don't bother me at all. The controls will take a bit of getting used to alright. Especially when driving. It's back to X for accel, and square for brake. Weird not using the triggers

Lads is there any way of purchasing this without having to use a credit card? Can you buy vouchers or anything like that?

You can get pre-pay cards in Gamestop

Personally I use 3V vouchers, but you might be waiting a while for them to send you out a card

If you have a Paypal account you can buy PSN cards on ebay and the code will get emailed straight to you.

Vice City is heading to PSN next week for €9.99. I really wish San Andreas was €9.99 as well.

Brilliant news. Downloaded it for the iPad but haven't played it yet. Far prefer to play on the PS3 though.

You can but they'll more than likely mess up your game-saves.

Yea I think I remember something about that with the original game.
Might go for it without the cheats first.
You cant beat having an endless supply of weapons and ammo, and going a rampage!!!

Anyone reckon they might bring em out on Vita? Would pay for that but I've bought multiple copies of all of them before (think I payed for SA 4 times through the years) and just can't bring myself to fork out yet again to play on a console.

Can't wait for this, been far too long since I've played Vice City
