It's a corporate account, so I guess it's not fair to try and compare, but I'm just wondering how this would compare to a private bill pay upgrade. The mobile company want to charge e300 for the handset (Galaxy S3) to upgrade from a HTC Desire S. The contract is for 18 months, with some free texts and I'm sure some free calls. Does the e300 for such a handset upgrade sound normal?

It all depends on how much you pay per month. With a high monthly bill you're paying back some of the cost of the phone with each bill.

€300 does seem like a lot though, you can get the S3 free on billpay with some tariffs.
