Camera Advice

Hi,

Im looking to get my wife a digital camera.
She loves taking Pic.
I know nothing about cameras, so i hope you all can give me a hand.
The camera she has at the moment is just a normal digital one. It takes 5 sec to take a pic once you press the button. It has automatic focus too which doesnt work all the time so have the pics she takes are out of focus

I want to get one of the camera that you can focus your self, but i dont want to give me credit card a heart attack in the process.
One that is simple enough to use.
