While you can say that for City, you cant against Uniteds there second string Welbeck being a product of there youth system and Hernandez was reportedly bought for 6 million pounds. Hernandez would arguably be a guaranteed starter were he at Arsenal.

Yeah, in some ways united take the approach I want arsenal to take. THey've plenty of decent players in the squad who were either products of the academy or young players bought fairly cheap (like hernandez) but they also shell out for big established players that will give the team an edge like they did with judas. Obviously on the "business"/financial stability side of things arsenal are better run though.

The main difference between us and united though is Fergie, he gets the best out of whats a pretty rag-tag squad (bar a few obvious exceptions) on paper whereas at the moment Wenger is getting the worst out of whats a pretty great squad (bar a few obvious exceptions) on paper.

I agree he's the better manager but he's also had an awful lot more money to spend on transfers than Wenger.

Glad Rosicky is back, he offers something different in midfield. Not afraid to get stuck in when needed but also capable of the more technical side of things too. Just a shame his fitness is so bad, otherwise he is a great player to have, even if only from the bench most games.

I'd happily see Chamakh in the team ahead of Gervinho too. Himself and Giroud played pretty well together in the reading cup match iirc too, though that match was crazy so probably not a great barometer.

Chamack was dreadful in the first half. O.K. in the second. Might be lack of game time but overall he's just not good enough for Arsenal.

I agree he's not up to the standard we've come to expect at Arsenal, but in the squad we have now I think he is good enough to warrant a place on the bench at least.

He can be a good player..... his confidence is shot. I would play him more often and he wold make a difference in some of the them stale draws we have had too many of.

Chamakh is a good player and would score goals, but how on earth can he do that when he hasnt got a proper run in the team in over 2 years. I actually feel sorry for him and think moving to us has ruined his career. Just look at the service our strikers get its absolutely shocking, Chamakh was in on goal last night and all Gervinho had to do was play him in but he chose just to run straight into there defender.

Shows how bad we've gotten when people think Chamakh actually played well, he had an absolute sitter, and no he didn't miss it, he ****ing fell over.

Its like a battered wife who keeps insisting its her own fault and finding good in her hubby when there is none. A few people in here need to get in touch with reality.

Are you sure that wasn't Ramsey?

    Which reality is this?

The one that we have no plan B and should just keep bringing on the same players who have done f*ck all for us this season?

Or the one where we bring on defensive midfielders towards the end of a game for our one and only forward, in games where we should have slaughtered the opposition?

Or the one where we had a reasonable goal scorer who we stopped playing entirely, although, even then it would have benefited us to have more than one striker in case he got injured or f*cked off somewhere else?

No one is saying that Chamakh should replace Giroud or be in the first team. We are saying that he should at least be on the bench so if something does happen to Giroud we can actually play a forward up front or put two forwards up front if the system that we start off with doesn't work.

Nope 100% Chamakh, slid through in the box and fell over 1 on 1 with the keeper.

he also put in a cracking cross for arshavin. He's not great but he deserves a spot on the bench at least, in the current squad. At least it might put him in the shop window and make it easier for us to ship him out in the transfer window or summertime.

Does nt really matter , Ramsey was ****e too !

What is wrong with this club, sure we will sell on Sagna and Wallycott, give Arshavin and Squillaci an extension and a raise for doing so well at home and all will be grand.
Whats so wrong with holding onto players in their 30's Arsene? If your bringing Henry back, then surely a few bob could be shelled out on Sagna, probably our most consistent performer over the last few years.
Wonder how far backwards we have to go before we start to move forward again?

I can understand the intital offer of a 1year deal with his two leg breaks and that

But fook me it better not be our final offer

Fcuk sake, Sagna should certainly be offered a better contract hes been loyal to the club has always been a model professional and to be honest as long he doesnt join United or something I would hold nothing against him nor blame him for leaving and thats a sad truth.

You've been hearing the reason for years now.
THE CLUB HAS NO AMBITION (except to make money for the shareholders).

I just hope he's not putting all his eggs in the Jenkinson basket yet. He's still prone to a few mistakes, but has the makings of a great RB, who better to be the understudy of than Sagna for a few more years? The man who has been in the Premier League team of the year twice in his career, surely he has a few more tricks he can teach?

Cannot see the harm in giving Sagna a 3 year deal.

At this stage in his career he is looking for a long term deal and our offer of a one year extension is a disgrace. He'll be gone is the summer no doubt unless we offer a more realistic deal.

Was reading this morning will try find link, that we offered Him a 3yr deal and he wants 4
That these story's are his agent leaking to gain support

Tat makes things different 3 is more than enough for him

I think he wants out,he said a while ago he wasn't happy the way the club was going.

He is defo gone,in fairness why would he stay on?

That's fair enough it's his last big contract too leave him off, just don't put the spin on it

I don't think Chamakh is a good player.

However if we're drawing 0-0 with a team near the relegation zone and Wenger decides to sub off our only striker then I guess I'd rather see Chamakh coming on from the bench than Coquelin.

I can't see them offering Sagna more than 3 years, I believe they will happily make Jenkinson first choice next season and sell Sagna at 30 when his market value will be higher than when he is 32/33. I wish they'd keep him though.

Contracts expiring next summer; Arshavin, Squillaci, Walcott, Fabianski.

Expiring in 2014; Szczesny, Mannone, Gibbs, Sagna, Rosicky, Chamakh, Bendtner, Denilson.

(Diaby and ParkJuYoung have contracts until 2015...)

Noted the above from transfermarkt.co.uk which is usually accurate. If Szczesny's contract really is expiring in 2014 I've a feeling his head could be turned, there would be plenty of interest in him.

Seems the majority of the fans aren't happy with the way the club is going,I think its fair to see he isn't putting any spin on it.

This is just all too miserable. Need some good news from somewhere. I can't contemplate not winning this weekend.

Anyway can't blame him for wanting to leave

But no matter what I will support the crest on the front not the name on the back

No matter how bad things get I'm a gunner till I die
