Mate who is that kid behind shezney in the tunnel just now? cant be part of the squad! literely looks like a 10 year old!

That's Meade. He is 5 ft 3 ins and 20 years old. Very small.

Wenger must be cloning left backs. Cole, Clichy, Gibbs, and now Meade. They all have the same physical attributes.

This turned out to be true anyway. 1 major worry is Ox, who's been pretty poor this season.

Ive a pain in me gee watching some of these players, Gervinho, Arshavin, Ramsey, Squillachi, etc all should be nowhere near our club! Some players are just coasting at the minute what the **** like show a bit of passion for the jersey yous pack of ****!!!!!

Tonight was mheh. It's all about Saturday. Could be a blessing getting West Brom at home just as they hit there slump. Would rather a bigger test Saturday to challenge a response from the players would just be iratating to win sat and drop points again next week

I suppose not too much harm done tonight, though I have a bad feeling we'll probably get Barcelona in the next round!

Can't honestly see us going much further in this. Even with major surgery in January we have too many average players.

Even the second string team tonight were pretty average. Rosicky made an impression, the rest just collecting their wages. I never felt there was a goal coming from Arsenal after Rosicky went off. Never mind, any team in the last 16 is tough so fingers crossed, its not tougher than Arsenal's second string.

heading over for saturdays game, I'm not looking forward to it as I normally would, I'm prediciting a dismal draw

If we don't get off to a good start the atmosphere could be posinious

At the start of the season we had two poor scoreless draws while playing bad football. In his interviews after those games Wenger said he was happy with the performances. Why would anyone be happy with those performances and why would the team try harder if the manager was happy with that s***?
The same performances continued and we got a few results . I do not think we would have beaten Spurs if Adebayor had remained on the pitch. The sending off changed the game. We also got a very lucky win against QPR.

The season has been a disaster but yet we are only 5 points off fourth place and anything is possible. A few good signings in January could still get us fourth.

Much of the blame lies with the manager for accepting mediocrity.

How can you judge anything by tonight's performance?

It was a second string team that was playing. What exactly did you think was going to happen when you had Arshavin and Gervinho are on the same pitch at the same time? I doubt Henry, never mind Chamakh, could have done much better when you are relying on those two for service.

I wouldnt be bothered really as long as we avoid Dortmund and Barca. I feel like the rest of them are beatable even if we dont make any big signings. But judging from wengers post match interview, I think we can expect a few new faces in jan

As much as tonight was a nothing match it did also highlight how weak our squad is, United second string would probably be Wellbeck and Hernandez, City would have played Dzeko or Balotelli we played Chamakh, Gervinho and Arshavin all dreadful.

These are all Wengers players, players he decided were good enough to put on the Arsenal jersey. We gave Squillaci a run for fcuk sake he shouldnt be in our team at all yet hes our second string another player signed by Wenger and none of them fit to wear the jersey.

I wholeheartedly agree that our second string team is too weak. The problem I had with the previous posts is that they were saying that we could use tonight's performance as an indicator of the ability of the first team. That is a complete falsehood. Any first team squad players that were there tonight probably didn't care a whole lot. We were qualified anyway and no matter if we finished first or second, we could still end up playing Real Madrid or Barcelona.

What is frustrating was the likes of Gervinho and Arshavin who could have probably made a case for their inclusion in the first team, didn't even bother last night. Maybe Gervinho did, but I hope not.

I thought Chamakh did ok in the second half. He won every header from our kick outs but no one was there to take advantage. He chased the defence down, but was the only one doing so. I lost count of how many times he was waiting for a through ball from either Gervinho or Ramsey and either they didn't choose him or they lost the ball.

Essentially, we have the same problem in the second team as we do in the first, the forward is not being given the service he needs and no one is playing off him. If Giroud had been playing tonight instead of Chamakh he probably would have fared similarly. The one time that someone did play off Chamakh, Ramsey f*cked it up.

I don't know about anyone else that played last night. Meade did well and probably deserves a run if Gibbs gets injured again. Rosicky also did ok and would be a good alternative in midfield to come off the bench. I wouldn't object to Chamakh being on the bench ahead of Gervinho and as a plan B stick him and Giroud up front together. In my mind, no one else really deserves a mention.

Just remember though, last nights performance can not be used as an indicator of how the first team is doing. You might as well have watched your local team playing last night and used their performance as a way to judge how Arsenal's first team are playing.

I'd happily see Chamakh in the team ahead of Gervinho too. Himself and Giroud played pretty well together in the reading cup match iirc too, though that match was crazy so probably not a great barometer.

Comparing our squads to United's and City's is pretty unfair - Arsene has to look in the bargain bucket for an awful lot of his and hope he finds a rough diamond. City and United go for polished versions every time (Bebe proving to be an odd exception) The financial constraints Wenger is under are far greater than either of those 2 clubs.

I'd start rosicky the weekend, push cazorla wide and drop podolski

Get rosicky and cazorla swapping positions hopefully it will speed up our play a bit

Aside from the goal - excellent finish- Rosicky looked very bright last night combatitive and forward thinking - could give the midfield the impetus it needs in coming weeks.

While you can say that for City, you cant against Uniteds there second string Welbeck being a product of there youth system and Hernandez was reportedly bought for 6 million pounds. Hernandez would arguably be a guaranteed starter were he at Arsenal.

I think Giroud and Chamakh could work well together, Giroud is good at knocking down ball but needs an actual striker beside him.
It couldnt be any worse than what we're doing anyway, every time Gervinho gets the ball you just know he's going to made a balls of it
